Ok, I admit, I'm a coffee geek. I'm always on the prowl for truly great coffee. And I have to say it's really hard to find in Ontario. I live just outside Toronto, and have tried many popular cafes there. But so far, I haven't found anything in the GTA that compares to what I experienced in Italy and also Montreal. I visited family in Welland a couple of weeks ago, had a coffee craving, and did a search. Cafe Amalia immediately got my attention, and I just had to give it a try. What a great find! I don't really know whether Constantino realizes he's running a business. I think he just enjoys inviting people into his home to experience real Italian coffees and conversation. My wife and I stayed far too long, but we feel like we met a new friend. I had 2 espressos, and my wife had cappuccino. Both were absolutely first-rate. We had a couple of home-made biscuits, but didn't experience the lunch offerings, so I can't comment on other food. In addition to the food and drinks served, Cafe Amalia also has a selection of imported products to buy. We can't wait to visit Welland again, and we especially look forward to more mornings visiting with Constantino, and enjoying his coffee.
