As usual the food was truly amazing and the service even better. We went for my Father in laws birthday and the staff did not disappoint

I have to agree with the comments made by the reviewers who immediately precede me. We last dined at The Octagon in July 2016 and the meal was excellent. This past week, we were a party of 4 that dined at the restaurant and the experience was extremely disappointing and ridiculously expensive.

We started with the Caesar Salad. Outrageously priced! $17 per person. Despite a whole table-side production (likely to justify the price), the salad had no flavour. The garlic bread was decent although not great. Of the 4 steaks ordered (1 Filet Mignon, 1 Bone-In Rib Eye and 2 New York), only the Filet Mignon got a good review from our party. The New Yorks were tough and gristly and the Rib Eye was flavourless. A token vegetable was thrown onto each plate but the $60+ price tag per steak was in no way justified. Dinner for 4 with 1 cocktail per person, 4 Caesar salads, 4 steaks, 2 desserts and 4 coffees came out to a WHOPPING $500. That is literally insane...especially for a restaurant in the middle of nowhere.

Suffice it to say, this will be our last visit to The Octagon.

We went there at lunch hour and the four of us walked out very disappointed. The quality of this once fine restaurant has been slipping away. The food was less than average at best with our meals having to be sent back for more cooking.
What a shame for a restaurant that we once admired.

I guess I'll start with the positive...the service was excellent, the garlic bread and the garlic mashed potatoes were also excellent and so was the french onion soup. The decor is also very nice. That's probably the only good things I have to say about this restaurant. The negatives: The outrageously priced caeser salad was gross. Yes, we left out some ingredients due to dietary restrictions but we do this in all restaurants. The ribs were burnt and horrible that not even extra sauce could salvage them. Avoid the scallops, they were tasteless. The crab was just ok and the steak was just ok too. We were celebrating a special occasion and the restaurant knew about it. Nothing was acknowledged. Without getting into details, 4 out of the 5 people in our party needed the bathroom when we got home. This was probably one of the most disappointing meals we have had since we were really looking forward to this restaurant. We will never be back

Sad to say, went here for a birthday lunch. The resto is dark for lunch, maybe good for dinner, though. The seats in the booth were so low it was startling. The waiter seemed disinterested, and was low key to put it mildly. The food was not exceptional. The Keg does a better job in all respects.
