I knew not to expect frills - and it was a clean, quiet room, so no complaints there - but our first impressions were definitely a let-down with the chipping paint on the exterior, the run-down, dark lobby, which unfortunately smelled like spilled beer; the courteous yet clearly uninterested staff on both days; and the room smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke that it was a complete turn-off. We were quickly given a smoke-free room in exchange, so kudos for that! - but even with the good night's sleep, the convenient location, and the reasonable price (for the Whistler area) during ski season, we won't be racing back. It was just too dingy & grotty overall, compared to other hotels we've stayed in of the same price-range, in Vancouver for example.
