I have been on the Fransis Barkley 3 or 4 times now. It's a great thing to do with guests you want to visit with nobody has to drive. The working boat is very interesting. The scenery is amazing and the crew very friendly. There is a paid kitchen and bar service. A hidden gem.

Just back from this trip. Crew really good as we were a few minutes late and the put the gangplank back out for us. Sight really good. No bears or whales for us today but did see a few eagles. The cafe on board was really good. Service great and good food. Do take a coat as it was nice when we left but soon changed to be a bit cold and windy. Not the fault of the tour company.

Dads 90th Birthday and our retirement prompted this excursion. If you arrive early, you can watch them load the cargo for the days' deliveries. Being a guest aboard a working coastal freighter is a glimpse into coastal life. Leaving from the Harbour in the morning you get an interesting view of the industries along the waterfront.
The Frances Barclay makes a number of stops depending on what cargo requires dropping off or being picked up along its route. You will see wildlife, possibly even whales, as you enjoy the picturesque scenery. We are tempted to make this an annual event as each trip will be different.
The food service is excellent and the cheeseburgers and sandwiches are made fresh in the galley, and delicious!
The Captain and crew are all friendly and informative. The ship is very roomy and a comfortable temperature. Small children may become bored although there is much to look at and explore.
