“Beautiful route to drive or ride on both sides of the border”

International Selkirk Loop
Reviewed 21 June 2017

I've only driven part of the route, from Castlegar, BC to Bonner's Ferry, Idaho. Spectacular, especially if you were born in Toronto.

We drove most of the Selkirk Loop in late March. Nice that there aren't many folks out, but many attractions are not open til May or later. Much of the loop on both sides of the border is sparsely settled, so beware those little dots on the map that indicate towns don't have a lot of facilities. Highlights for us were soaking at Ainsworth Hot Springs, visiting the historic town of Kaslo (and the museum where Japanese-Canadians were interned during WWII), and visiting Zuckerberg Island in Castlegar.

Don't forget your camera, because this is a ride you will want to have a record of. This area both North & South of the border is a motorcyclist's dream come true. Breathtaking vistas and quality, twisty roads. It doesn't get any better than this on a motorcycle.

Beautiful Views around the Selkirk Loop. So many spots to stop and take photos. You can take several days exploring the side trips and the towns. I can't imagine getting tired of this wonderful scenic road. I'm ready to go again.

We finally drove all of the Selkirk Loop this summer. We have also done some of the side trips. There are so many beautiful spots to stop and enjoy both in Canada and the US. I would recommend spending several days doing it. Take your time if possible and explore the towns, the lakes, rivers and beaches.
