We were lucky enough to be recommended the Old Excise House by friends of ours. From the minute we arrived we were given a warm welcome and served warm home made scones and coffee. The accommodation is absolutely first class and spotlessly clean, beautiful bedroom with en suite and residents lounge/ dining room. The breakfast was scrumptious and filling with as many choices as any first class hotel. Both Emma and Ron were a mine of information and happy to help you make the most of your break on the island. This was a very relaxing and pleasing experience and one we hope to repeat in the near future.

Ron and Emma are wonderful hosts who welcome you to their fantastic corner of Scotland. We stayed there for two nights and it was great. We felt incredibly welcome and they went above and beyond to help us out when we had a minor emergency. The room and breakfast (featuring home made preserves, home bakings, a variety of fruits and poached fruits, full scottish, ...) are also extremely good. If you visit Islay, I'd highly recommend spending a bit more and staying at the Old Excise House.

Emma and Ron make you feel welcome from the minute you arrive, the rooms are wonderful, the breakfast is out of this world. It is so restful and relaxing to sit in the sitting room. Waking up to a view of sheep grazing is amazing. Looking forward to our next visit! Most pedestrian friendly space of our trip so far.

Luxurious room, fabulous, very friendly host and hostess. Great to have use of the dining/drawing room to ourselves in the evenings. Breakfast has to be experienced to believe! Emma's baking with breakfast really fills you up for the day!! Emma and Ron very well informed about everything that Islay has to offer & happy to share their knowledge & experience.
Our 2nd visit this June & can't wait to visit again. Feels like home from home.
Easy walk to 3 distilleries & easy to get further afield. So much to see & do, especially the wildlife. The seal colony just after Ardbeg is amazing to watch. A very warm welcome awaits you at the excise house!

Room Tip: One room with bath, one room with walk in shower, depends on your preference
