My uncle and I called in at 2100hrs from the gate to check if there was any room available, fortunately for us there was and we were in for a great surprise.
The location, the view from the upper deck, lush garden surrounding the premises and the cleanliness of the room we were in was top notch.

Thankyou so much John and Marylin (lovely hosts) for your kind hospitality and friendliness. The lovely breakfast (eventhough we turned up late and missed some of those avacado salads you prepared) was the icing on the cake during our 2 night stay. Being a local, I am inspired and grateful.

Highly reccommend this place if you need to have a good rest and relax especially after a busy day touring the old capital or to run away to after a grog session and or function in the village.

Stayed for 4 nights with Levuka Homestay, rooms were very comfortable and John and Marilyn were excellent hosts. Breakfast was great with the avocados, pancakes and home made jams. The rooms and the home in general have an excellent colonial theme going keeping in touch with the old capitals allure. We had to stay a few days due to category 1 cyclone, cancelled and delayed boat schedules but John and Marilyn proved to be very accommodating. Vinaka valevu!

We could have been staying there for happier reasons, however we weren`t,we were
there for my brother in laws` burial.John and Marilyn could not have made things easier for us,they were soo accommodating to our needs. My sister had 2 days of extreme distress and the staff just helped in every way they could. Our rooms were a delight, such a wonderful change from "chain" hotel type accommodation. This is a small place and such a joy to be part of.Was lovely to see,the rooms decorated in Fijian artifacts prints and photos...every thing had aFijian
theme.Great size bathroom, lots of towels etc and things restocked every day.We were on first name terms with John and Marilyn and the staff,so relaxing and no oneupsmanship in sight. We were greeted every morning by our names which made us feel that we belonged. The gardens themselves need a review of their own, suffice to say Nox ? could get a job anywhere in the world looking after gardens. The icing on the cake for me,is having tropical flowers placed in my room and bathroom every day
how wonderful.Have been involved with Fiji since the late `60s early `70s,(having had a Fijian brother in law ) and this was how things were then.John and Marlyn vinaka for keeping up the tradition. Will be back toward years` end

Room Tip: All rooms are up high,so there are lots of steps....don`t be put off,it`s worth every groan.

The Homestay is perfectly prepared for visiting guests with four separate units a few minutes walk from downtown Levuka
You walk up the steps to the first of the four units, followed by the other three one by one and a staircase leading to the top floor is the lounge and breakfast area.
The rooms of about 20 sq m each are delightful with nice decor; comfortable large double bed; wardrobe, desk area for your laptop; ceiling fan and A/C, tea and coffe making falility; refridgerator with milk and drinking water; large bathroom with shower unit and hot water, which is not always the case over here. Towels of good quality, replaced every day. There is no TV or radio.
The breakfast is served at a time that suits you and Marilyn and John offers you all you can want; fruit smoothy, fresh fruits, toasted bread, home made jams; avocado mix; pancackes, muslie, eggs the way you wantit- with bacon as an option.
The couple very friendly and informatibe giving any help & information needed.
As in all Levika, there is a constant noise from the diesel generators at the other end of the town and even at this place you hear it at a distance. Being in town you may also have dogs barking

Room Tip: The higher up the more steps

We recently had 4 nights at Levuka Homestay and found it to be a home away from home. Our hosts John and Marilyn were very caring and attentive..especially when I had a couple of days when I was quite ill. They and their staff were top notch ...breakfast was excellent..lovely variety of fruits, cereals etc....rooms very comfortable, everything worked....air con made it so comfortable. I Have been associated with Fiji since the 60's, so I loved the Fijian theme re artifacts and decoartions in the rooms....everything was so clean and neat....the gardens with their beautiful tropical flowers and scents, just act like therapy.
The view is spectacular from up the top in the dining area overlooking Levuka, the old capital of Fiji....steeped in history. We hoped to meet the Tui Levuka, but it did not happen, however, there is always next time.
Vinaka Vaka levu to John and Marilyn, you made our stay as wonderful as it could be.
Kindest Regards
Lesley Ellis
