If you want quality accommodation whilst visiting the peak district then look no further. The place is immaculate, equipped with a decent dishwasher and washing machine and good quality cooking utensils and crockery. The knives were brilliant, we are a hard group to please food wise so we cooked and ate in every night, so to have quality utensils to use was a godsend. On arrival there was a small amount of coffee, tea, milk, sugar, dishwasher tablets, 2 cleaning cloths, washing up liquid left which was really helpful until you could get to the shops to stock up yourself. The pièce de résistance was the lemon drizzle cake, funnily enough that didn't last too long. The nearest supermarkets are about 25 minutes away in Ashbourne although there are smaller convenience shops nearer however we did not need to use these. The owners live on site and are really warm and friendly people who are non intrusive but it's reassuring to know they are there if there's a problem or you just need some local advice.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay in the Peak district and was a lovely feeling knowing that you were going back to this cottage after a day out.
We would highly recommend this property to stay at.
The accomodation is beautiful and well kitted out for a family of four. The beds are very comfortable and the showers powerful and hot, just what you need for a relaxing break.
Andrea and her family were very helpful especially to our inquisitive boys :-). The animals were loved by our boys, Boris and Chicco are sorely missed!
The location is beautiful with so much to do, a week was not long enough. We managed to fit in walks around Dovedale, Bunster Hill, Ilam & Thorpe Cloud. Bike rides around Carsington Water and along the Tissington trail plus days out to Sudbury Hall and Crich Tramway Museum incl many ice cream pit stops.
We love this part of the country and we wil be back again.
We had a lovely break at Winnow Stables; the stables are perfect for four people with two good size double rooms with en-suites and a big open plan living area.
A great spot for exploring the Peak District with lots of walks and pubs close by and plenty of excellent sights and towns a short drive away.
We had a delightful short stay in this very picturesque spot in the Peak district. Winnow Barn ticked all the boxes - lovely decor, lovely countryside on your doorstep, cute market town nearby and nice warm wood-burner to curl up in front of at the end of the day. The animals were a plus for the kids too. Highly recommended for a quick de-stress.
The cottage was everything we thought it would be from the pictures. It is been converted and decorated with style using quality materials. It's cozy but uncluttered, beautiful tall ceilings with beams but always lovely and warm. The log burner was really lovely to come home to after long walks around the area. The kitchen has everything you need and the beds were really comfortable. The farm itself has a lovely atmosphere with goats and donkeys and we were greeted on our arrival by Thomas the cat! The owners are really helpful and friendly but not at all intrusive which is really important when you want to get away from it all. The best way for me to recommend this cottage is by saying that I will be going back the next time I plan a trip to the Peak District. Really, really happy!!
