House is small but perfectly formed! Comfortable beds, small but well equipped kitchen and beautiful country views. Lovely welcome hamper provided by the owners who live just next door. Even gave us a delicious homemade birthday cake for my son!! Well placed for exploring the surrounding countryside. We enjoyed the cycling opportunities close at hand.

We have just returned from 4 nights in this lovely cottage, and we had a fantastic time. Everybody left wishing we could stay for longer.
We were a group of four comprising to couples. We had booked to stay in another cottage but the owners let us down only a few days before we were due to leave. Fortunately for us while desperately trying to find somewhere to stay at short notice we found parkfields. Becky and Tom were incredibly helpful and quick to reply to our enquiry, meaning we had booked all on the same day.
On arrival we found the lovely welcome basket with a chocolate cake we had to dig straight into, and was a constant cause for enjoyment throughout the stay. Becky and Tom were both very welcoming. The cottage was very clean and tidy and we were immediately impressed.
The cottage itself is really well thought out. There is ample space for muddy and wet clothing (I'd your into walking) inside the front door which then leads on to the kitchen. Although small the kitchen has everything you need, including a dishwasher. We were happy cooking dinners, cooked breakfasts and packed lunches. The lounge feels big and roomy and is really nicely decorated.
Upstairs leads to the mezzanine twin bedroom and the double with en suite. This is the only place I have dropped down to 4 stars on this review as the mezzanine isn't the best set up for two couples, as it meant we had to pass through one bedroom to get to the other. However, that said it didn't cause any problems for us and I think it would be perfect for a family and is a clever use of space.
The cottage is well situated for walks straight out of the front door with lovely surroundings. It's also quick and easy to get into the peak district for walks there too. We also ventured over to Alton towers which is definitely worth a visit!
Overall parkfields is a well appointed lovely cottage in a lovely area, perfectly situated both in terms of access, and for things to do in the area. We would definitely recommend it.

The views and walks from this cottage are reason enough to spend several days there, with or without children, who are made very welcome by amenities including a barn that provides a large all-weather play space with trikes, bikes, scooters and footballs readily available. The cottage itself is an empathetic barn conversion with more than a few notable special features including skylights in both bedrooms that can be blackout screened at will, but usher in beautiful early morning and late evening light if you are willing to go with nature's rhythm. Also brilliant was the cleverly designed spacious storage space in the bedrooms. We were able to install ourselves and our clothes, toys and books for a two week stay, with plenty of "putting things away" space. The kitchen, though small, has been carefully designed to maximize functionality and space and is lovely and light, all day. One of the things I do on holiday is try to enjoy several nights of deep sleep...a luxury missing from my everyday life. I often end up sleeping at least part of the night(s) with my young children, especially when we are in "new places in strange beds". ALL of the beds and linens in the cottage were deliciously comfortable and so were the sofas! We got lots of rest. The welcome hamper and its contents were simply epic. Becky's chocolate cake with fresh raspberries baked into it stands out notwithstanding the 45 years I have spent paying homage to chocolate and berries dished up in many other forms. Last but certainly not least, the Harringtons - Becky, Tom, Isaac and Oscar. In addition to presenting a really stunning barn conversion, they give us a warm welcome, offered help with planning our time and local knowledge generally, looking after us as if we were friends coming to stay; and all at the same time they also sensitively allowed us privacy and space so that we could really feel like the cottage was our home for the duration of our stay. If we don't visit Parkfields Stable soon again I will kick myself ....hard.
