We only stayed one night after returning from the Great Bear Lodge. Orange Tabby is easy to find, next to the bus terminal, and an easy walk to all amenities in town. James was a really good host (he also knew a lot about the area) and cooked a large and tasty breakfast. We LOVED the easy access shower (only a very tiny lip to get into it). There are two steps up to the room where breakfast is served.

James and Susan really go the extra mile to make your visit special. This is our second visit which says a lot. We couldn't stay as long as we would have wished so must return again to enjoy the Orange Tabby and the beauty of northern Vancouver Island. If you find yourself in this part of the world then this is the place to go for comfort, an excellent breakfast and a really warm welcome.

Dee and I went north to visit friends in Port MacNeil but chose to stay in Port Hardy approximately 30 minutes away...good choice! We were met in the driveway by James who immediately put us at ease. Accessing our room on the lower floor of this building was easy enough that handicapped would have little or no difficulty doing so. The room itself was spacious, clean and well appointed with anything a traveller would need. With a bed side table and chairs it made an excellent work area and very large bedside lamps made reading in bed very comfortable. Although we did not require the use of the bar fridge or the TV, they were available in the rooms for those that would need them.
Breakfast was served in an adjoining room and is best described as a full, wholesome and balanced meal. We left the table very satisfied.
The hosts themselves were accommodating and conversation flowed easily. For those travelling to the north end of Vancouver Island, we recommend a stay at the Orange Tabby B&B...thank you James & Susan for a lovely visit!

Room Tip: Room #3 overlooking the parking lot is a larger suite with a large walk-in shower...

We were originally booked into Telco House for three nights, but an emergency arose and the owners there called while we were driving to Port Hardy to say that they couldn't take us. They got us in at the Orange Tabby instead at the same rate; the only downside was that breakfast was not made for us. I called the owners of the Orange Tabby and they were very friendly and helpful and made sure we knew about breakfast. I said we did and we would see them in a few hours.
When we arrived, Susan met with us and went over the details of our stay and give us a map of town along with some recommendations for supper that night (try Mikonos Cafe in the Providence Place hotel!!).

We were in room 3 (the Pug room) which faces the ocean and is larger than the other two rooms. She showed us the lovely common room which had plenty of books and movies to watch if wanted, then showed us the kitchen area where we could make our own breakfasts. She provided eggs, bacon, pancake mix, juices, and fruit as well as coffee and tea.

The bed was VERY comfortable with top-quality linens and a soft feather duvet. The towels were thick and plentiful. There was a robe and slippers in the closet (although they didn't fit me, but I am a size 12). There was a nice LCD TV with satellite box and DVD player (which we didn't turn on). We found it really easy to explore town on foot and go for day hikes - Orange Tabby is centrally located and very easy to find.

We would definitely stay with Susan and James again.

James met us with a very warm welcome and loads of ideas for our short visit to Port Hardy. The accommodation and breakfasts were excellent but James went that extra mile to make sure we gained the most out of our visit. We would certainly recommend the Orange Tabby and will come again next time we are in this beautiful part of the world.

Room Tip: We were the only couple there at the time so we have no comment on other rooms.
