After booking into a disappointing hotel this pub made our afternoon/ evening. Young, friendly but professional staff. Returned for dinner in evening and wasn't disappointed. Great warm bread, delicious olives , I had tender lamb, husband rib eye which was delicious. Great desserts. Great service. Two very happy customers.

On Friday 15th September we ate at the Black Horse, Woburn. We had a very disappointing evening and therefore I wanted to register some feedback. I have emailed the GM and the area manager on Sunday, unfortunately they ave not responded as of yet.

We arrived at 8:50pm for a reservation at 8:45pm. The table was not ready and we were asked to wait in the bar. The table didn't come available until 9:15pm. 30 minutes late.

Five of our party wanted to eat Rump Steak for main course, unfortunately the rump steak we requested was running low, so we were offered upon our request two replacements of sirloin steak instead at no extra charge to the table. The manager agreed to this, but I feel we should have been offered before we had to ask.

We ordered our food reasonably promptly. We waited until 10pm before complaining to Eren the manager on duty as we hadn't received our starters and in addition we were missing drinks from our order too. He apologised that there had been an error in the order process and managed to deliver our starters to the table at 10:15pm. Almost an hour and a half since we arrived in the establishment. As a gesture of goodwill he told us that we wouldn't be charged for our starters. The starters were of good quality.

After this, we received our main courses pretty promptly, however two of the rump steaks (which they were running low on) unfortunately were very tough and had been ordered as a medium. We complained to Erin again. He offered the two members of the party replacement dishes, however only had one steak remaining in the kitchen which was a sirloins, as it was very late in the evening and the two ladies' appetite had decreased, they kindly offered to share the last steak between them. 15 minutes later the new steak arrived. Immediately, I knew that there was a problem. The Steak did not look like a grilled piece of Sirloin, It had been broiled not grilled, perhaps even microwaved. If you had tasted this product in a blind taste test, you would never know it was a beef sirloin. It was pale, disgusting and inedible. Feeling rather embarrassed now yet frustrated by this dining occasion, I complained again to Erin and spoke to him privately. Initially he did not feel that our complaint was valid on the replacement steak, however he did in the end agree that we should not be charged for the two steaks or the replacement product.

During the debacle over the steaks, we were asked for any last orders from the bar. The bar team seemed eager to clear us and all parties from the restaurant. Given that two of our party hadn't yet received their main course, I felt this was completely untimely and inappropriate.

After the main course, we were offered desserts and coffee and a free drink. We accepted the drink but declined any further food from the kitchen. We settled our bill, which was reduced in line with the above points and left the restaurant.

Having worked in the hospitality business for over 20 years, I understand that sometimes businesses have a difficult night and on this night, we had the brunt of it. It was real shame as I had gathered some friends together for my birthday and have previously enjoyed the food served there.

Had a delicious courgette and blue cheese soup to star, followed up by the beef and venison roasts. Venison was nicely cooked but initially it didn't come with Yorkshire pudding despite being £23, they did give me one when I asked and although it was exactly as I like texture wise (soft) it didn't really taste of anything. Overall it was pleasant but not outstanding. Soup was the stand out dish. Decent size portions so didn't need dessert

For a Sunday there was a nice buzz to the atmosphere. We had a drink in the bar, a member of staff suggested the GB Gin, which was very nice. We had dinner in the restaurant, Seafood Risotto and Free range roast chicken.

Reasonably priced and the staff were very pleasant and attentative.
