What a gem! We lived in Bristol for years, and now visit a couple of times a year. Typically we stay at the Marriott College Green - but it is a bit tired now and we fancied a change. The Hotel Du Vin popped up and we gave it a go.

From the check in onwards the service was great. We had booked the Big Loft Chapel - and we were glad we did! A truly great room, comfortable bed and good shower.

Parking is a bit limited - they only have a few spaces that you can for out the front - but the big multi story over the road is a short walk to and quite convenient. Getting into town is simple - a short walk, and plenty of restaurants about - you are only a short walk from the harbourside and the theaters. This will be one that we return to each year on our Bristol trips.

Room Tip: we found the Big Loft Chapel , although more expensive, was worth it.

Enjoyed every bit of our stay here. The refurbishment of the old sugar mill has been done tastefully and is a credit to the owners. Staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms well appointed and spacious.

Worst fillet stake I've ever had, tough as an old sea boot when I ordered medium rare. Would not recommend this restaurant although they did reimburse cost of meal. Shame because hotel accommodation is very good

Dear Patricia1250,

I am glad we dealt with your disappointing steak appropriately and apologies that this spoilt your meal . I have made our supplier aware as this is most unusual.

We had afternoon tea as a birthday treat and thoroughly enjoyed it. The selection was a bit different (lemon meringue pie and gin and tonic sorbet were a couple of the choices) as well as the more traditional scones with cream and jam. The savouries were again a bit unusual - a departure from cucumber sandwiches. All delicious and perfect washed down with a glass of prosecco!
As a side point I am vegetarian and also have a nut allergy but this was no problem at all for the Hotel du Vin.
Recommended! Just need to find an excuse for another visit!

My daughter was married on Saturday and stayed at HDV that night, my husband and I stayed 2 nights. We cannot speak too highly of the service while we were in the hotel, from reception to departure. The hotel dealt with all my daughter's arrangements for accommodation and 30+ private dinner immaculately, and helped to make it a wonderful day for her. All the staff were welcoming and caring, particularly at Reception and the three young waiters at dinner who were simply excellent. We stay at good hotels regularly, home and abroad: nothing beats HDV
