All I can say is what a delightful place. Stayed here for one night with my boyfriend and was blown away by the hospitality . The place is very clean and beautiful decorated with the most amazing bathroom and bath tub . And to top it off the breakfast hit the spot - poached eggs bacon and mushrooms as well as fruit and other bits . Cannot recommend enough definitely worth a stay !!

From the moment we walked in the red door, we breathed more deeply and relaxed in the well-cared for Duke House. There were fresh flowers from the garden waiting in our room (Wellington), in the hallways, and at the breakfast table. At this time of year, they are small roses and lavender. Breakfast is locally sourced - cheeses, fresh fruits, jams, honeys, and free range eggs. Even the juice is from fruit grown and pressed in Cambridgeshire. A full cooked breakfast is offered as well.

Perfectly located in the center of town, you can walk to all of the colleges and museums, then take a break to go punting on the Cam. We did. When you get home in the evening, a selection of port and sauterne is on a tray in the foyer. The drawing room/library is well-stocked with books, along with coffee, biscuits, and sweets, plus a refrigerator offers pitchers of cream and bottled water. Homemade brownies were left in our room every night, along with coffee, tea, and biscuits. The bathroom has a new, huge, wall-sized towel warmer and new, very large marble shower. Everything in the house is very clean, fresh, and works perfectly.

The 1820s house once belonged to the Duke of Gloucester. Each room is named after a duke, and could be featured in a style magazine, as is true of the entire house. Things are beautifully and comfortably done to a level of thoughtful detail. We couldn’t have made a better choice or had a more enjoyable stay. Liz is a charming and delightful host.

We felt at home here. Hospitality was excellent… Especially Paul who gets two thumbs up. They were even accommodating to my gluten-free needs.
It was very conveniently located to downtown-only a five minute walk.
The decor, food, and people are top notch!

Duke House is 3 minutes from Cambridge town centre, one of the main shopping arcades, bars & large departments stores. 10 minutes to the Cam itself walking. A good pub just around the corner, 4 more 5 minutes away one with a Thai restaurant. Room lovely. Bed really comfy. Shower pressure really good even on the top floor. Breakfast was so big I was stufffed, locally sourced and superbly cooked.
Guests please consider the other guests staying at the same time. Its a beautiful old house with lovely decor & fittings so please close your doors quietly as they slam due to self closure system. They have to have them for fire regulations. It's up to the guests to be considerate. Not difficult to do.

We checked into Duke House for a 3 night stay, our welcome was so friendly, inviting and informative, Liz is lovely. Our room the Wellington was gorgeous, the furnishings are truly beautiful there was a good selection of teas and coffee and some of the most delicious home made cake I have tasted. The bathroom didn't disappoint, roomy and very well equipped. Now to the breakfast, WOW, everything was locally sourced and of excellent quality, really I have stayed in many places but this was outstanding the service really friendly I can't fault anything. It is just a few minutes walk from the shops, bars restaurants etc so very well located. I would highly recommend Duke House to anyone visiting Cambridge, I shall definitely be returning. Thank you to Liz and all .
