On arrival we had a lovely welcome from reception. We had arrived early so we were asked to take a seat in the Lounge/Bar area to fill out our forms whilst enjoying a lovely glass of prosecco. When the room was ready we were notified and up we went. We stayed in Room 138, the room had a lovely bottle of prosecco on ice (which I had requested), along with some lovely balloons and some Birthday touches. The room itself was pretty basic, nothing too fancy, however I had booked the standard double. The mattress was great & the room was very clean.

We both had a full body massage which was fantastic, as were the spa facilities. And again every member of staff along the way were really professional & polite.

In our package we had an evening 3-course meal, this is an area which definitely didn't live up to expectations. The food came out in a flash, in fact all 3-courses were in front of us after 35-40 mins. The second we finished one course, the next was in front of us. The standard of the food was also very average & didn't reach expectations. Whilst we were eating there were a few technical problems with the evening DJ & Saxophone player as the Hotel were trying to play the music through the restaurant speakers. It actually blew one of the speakers as it came out so loud. We also didn't think it was the right sort of music to playing in a restaurant? It's all well and good in a bar area where guests are wanting entertainment but I don't think it was appropriate for a restaurant.

After our meal we went through into the bar which was lively, it felt like we were in Ibiza with the DJ & Saxophone player.

Later on in the evening when we were back in our room there was a loud humming, vibration noise which turned out to be the extractor in the wine cellar below. We were informed earlier in the day that this would be turned off by 21:00. I called down to reception who informed me it would be off shortly, which it was, only to go back on intermittently for the next hour or so. This was a bit of a pain as after a lovely massage it would of been great to back it up with a good nights sleep.

The pluses are the staff, they are fantastic & you couldn't be made to feel more welcome. The massage was first class, as were the spa facilities. The things that let our stay down were the noise in the room & the standard of food in the restaurant. If this could be improved it would be 5/5.

Room Tip: Personally I'd eat out

Enjoyed our stay from start to finish. Loved the added little extras the hotel went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Great service and facilities. Food was top notch. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are worth the money

Some rooms are better than others for the same price. Service was friendly but slow. Hotel is VERY hot and the rooms do not have AC. Beautiful views from breakfast, however and the spa was good. Overall, OK.

Room Tip: Avoid room 229!

The spa treatment and the spa area are very good. Staff are interested and the therapist I had was spo on.the breakfast was good but the evening meal was not at all good. Reception and bar staff attentive and friendly. Restaurant more reserved.
