Arrived here for a one night stay at 8am off the overnight sleeper train from London. Rob and Belinda allowed us to check in early upon arrival instead of waiting for the allotted time of 10am (which we found very helpful as we were going out for the day to Land's End). After a tiring day we found our room cosy and comfortable and had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was of great quality and cooked to perfection by Rob. As we were getting the sleeper train back to London that day, Rob and Belinda allowed us to leave our bags until we were ready to collect them later that night, even though we had checked out that morning. Thanks for a great stay.

We booked this Place for our second stop of a trip from Liverpool to Cornwall. It seemed like a decent place from the pictures. When we pulled up outside. my wife said. "I'm not going in to that " Anyway after paying a massive £85 I didn't want to pay for another so we went in. I was greeted with the owner and a very powerful smell of cooking oil. I was showed our double box room. which was booked as a twin. The decor of the room was of a very low standard. the ceiling and walls had about 100 layers of paint on them. the woodwork was tired a painted over damage. old electrical fittings from the 1950s were just left on and covered with paint. The curtains were Chintz along with the matching bed cover. The place was very clean and breakfast was a good standard. but serving a good breakfast is not good enough to ballance out the condition of the room. Sorry I would not Recommend this dodgy digs to travellers. I would not be so harsh about this review if the price was lower. I expect better standards of accommodation for £85 !!!!!

I do not know how anyone could say " am not going in that" from the look of our front as we have NEW double glazed window and NEW front door. We have beautiful flowers in our front garden and its kept clean and tidy. Our curtains and bedding is not chintz?. My husband did give you the wrong room, you were as you said booked into a twin, rob did apologise and you said "not to worry its fine". Our walls and celling's are papered and yes then painted but they were re- painted in January as was the wood work but people bang luggage on it this is where the damage comes from. Thank you for the nice comment about the breakfast and the cleaning.

located by the train station, town center and bus depot. Place is very clean and owners very friendly. Always a warm welcome on our arrival ( have stayed there a number of times), Breakfast is always made fresh and is well cooked with a choice of menu, Lots of tea, coffee etc in room Will keep going back, once you have found a good place to stay, not much point in changing. Keep up the great work guys.

Location of course is excellent being very near to both railway station, bus station and town centre. Warm welcome on arrival from Belinda who led us up to a lovely en-suite room with lots of space, clean towels, toiletries and plenty of tea/coffee etc. Nice comfy bed in a quiet room and a splendid breakfast in the light airy dining room brought to us by Rob in the morning, who also gave us an interesting history of the 200 year old property. In view of a certain negative review, I would say I wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely return next time we come down to Cornwall.

This place is clean.... that's about as good as it gets. Aggressive staff left in charge with appauling hostess skills, the whole place stinks of cooking oil that sticks to your clothes, way over priced for what you actually get, not worth half what I was charged. Walls are so thin i could hear every movement made by the man in the next room.... and every bodily noise he made- disgusting!! . Didn't stick around for breakfast. PLEASE PLEASE don't book into this place- even as a last resort. Sleeping in your car would be far better.

We apologise for any misunderstandings whilst we were away but we have spoken to Lisa who was looking after the Guesthouse and this is her record of events.

The guest had told her that she was arriving at 5.00pm. Lisa waited for her until nearly 7.00pm and when she still had not arrived she had a bath. Whilst she was in the bath the doorbell rang and she had to dry herself and dress before her husband who had just come home from work answered the front door. She was greeted by the guest complaining that she had to wait for the door to be answered and that she felt uncomfortable waiting outside and there was no Guest Parking. We do not advertise that we have our own parking but that there is nearby side street parking.Lisa's husband, Marc, apologised and explained where to park which is two minutes walk away.

Lisa thought the guest was paying in cash and she asked for cash payment. The guest said that she was paying by card which was later confirmed by LateRooms and payment was taken. She did not pester the guest for cash payment.

The guest said that she did not want breakfast as she had to leave early. Lisa offered her sandwiches in the morning instead of breakfast and to take her bags up for her but she declined.

The guest has made disparaging remarks about the room and the guest next door who she said had his tv on loud until the early hours. The guest is a bus driver who arrives at 8.00pm and is out of his room by 7.15 am to drive to Bristol. The bus company's drivers have been with us for four years and they have been gentlemen and we have certainly had no complaints about them whatsoever.

The guest's comments about the room do not deserve a reply. We have never had complaints about this room before infact regular guests ask for it.

Once again we apologise that the guest was not satisfied but we do not consider that she deserves recompense and we feel disgusted about her comments especially about the room only being worth sixty five pence.
