Restaurant pretty quiet for a change. Have always been really pleased but this time staff inattentive. Order the 'fish 'n chips' for a change but fish was odd, not like cod or haddock. Huge flakes, clearly not a proper fillet of any fish. Inside batter the fish was very wet which spoilt the batter.

We had lunch here yesterday and unfortunately I now feel compelled to write this not so favourable review.
I was charge £1.75 for a splash of soda in my spritzer which most pubs don't charge for and £3.50 for a tomato salad that consisted of one tomato, an anchovy fillet and a couple of slices of shallots. The salad was delicious but ridiculously overpriced. We later observed one of these salads being returned to Chef because it was too small. When we mentioned this to the waitress we were told that salad was for a manager so had to be a "better spec" so much for being a customer then! No apologies were offered, we were told to 'send an email so the right people would know'. The bill was over £60 for basically two portions of fish & chips and a few glasses of wine.
We won't be returning.

Stopped with friends for dinner. The booth was compact if you have longer legs. The waiter very kindly explained the fresh fish available for us and took our drinks order. Service is prompt and friendly and they’ll happily recommend on how to cook the fish (there’s a range of options and not all suited to some fish). You get unlimited chips with your meal, although none of us needed any extra. The fish was cooked perfectly and very good portions. The seaweed tartar sauce is worth trying. Would recommend and definitely go again, perhaps in summer when they have a larger range of fish available

I booked online stating that we were celebrating birthdays so a nice touch was a birthday card signed by all. The staff waiting on the table.
There is the main menu plus there are the daily fish catches that the waiting staff indicate via captions on the tablecloth which is a fun way to do things.
The fish was beautifully cooked as you would expect with lively chips as well.
Service was quick and friendly.
