Description: THE DOLPHIN Inn is quickly emerging as the place to be !. Situated on Market Street, Dartmouth, the new Dolphin has an increased light, airy and welcoming interior, following a detailed and carefully planned renovation. Open from 11am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday, the business remains family-run with The warmest of welcomes for locals and tourists alike. Brother-in-laws John Jones and Glenn Powell have taken great lengths to ensure that the Inn has retained the classic features of a seaside pub, but one that is laid back and chilled in the services it offer to fit a wide-range of tastes. Sections of plush leather seating add a new sophisticated look to parts of this treasured and lovingly restored pub. With Manager John Pope – aka Geoffrey Boycott – using his great persuasive skills local boatbuilders and salvage masters have donated time and pieces in an attempt to bring some real local history to the pub – big thanks to all . As part of their ongoing push for higher standards, the pub owners have brought in a range of drinks, coinciding with the launch of a their very own brewed beer called Whaler Ale, brewed at their brewery – Bridgetown Brewery – situated on the river in the sister pub the Albert inn in Totnes.

5 of us all had different items from the menu. Crab sandwiches out of this world, packed with superb crabmeat ,salad . One had fish and chips, large piece of beautiful crispy battered cod. My mussels were divine, lovely sauce and vast amount of frites to accompany them. Special request for child size macaroni cheese and chorizo granted , hot ,creamy and salad and garlic bread. Lastly bacon and Brie sandwiches. Again ,beautiful and packed full. Staff jolly and friendly. Food appeared swiftly . Good wine and excellent choice of venue. Can't wait to go back again.

We visited the Dolphin with friends having been here alone a year or so ago and enjoying the experience. We ordered fish and chips, mister fritto , crab sandwich and falafel burger. We all enjoyed our meals and thought they were very well presented and good value (my fish and chips was substituted for a fish burger but it wasn't a problem and they compensated with a bowl of mushy peas and onion rings). The landlady was very chatty and made us feel welcome. Our friends also enjoyed their choices, the crab sandwich in particular was very appetising (the landlady said it was the best in Dartmouth, and she is probably right on this evidence), the mister fritto was packed with fresh fish, and the falafel burger very tasty. All meals were presented very well and were appetising. The beer (mostly Tribute ) was well kept and at £3.80 a little rich for my taste reflected the market in Dartmouth (we paid £4 in another pub later on). All in all a great experience and we and our friends both said we will return when next in Dartmouth.
Just one tip meant as constructive criticism - the gents toilets could do with a bit of a spruce up (I don't mind the collage of half-clad ladies) the toilet had a notice saying "sorry out of order" in what looked like permanent marker but no indication of an alternative facility, and get rid of the smelly carpet on the stairs, otherwise it would have been a five star review.

One of our many visits to the Dolphin this week. I had fish and chips and my wife had bouillabaisse which was delicious as were the fish croquettes that were served with it. Nice atmosphere and good music. Suited us nicely.

We found this restaurant/ pub by the market and decided to have lunch on Friday as a family .
We had a mixed menu from the glorious muscles, ham and pickle sandwiches and the special steak burger. It was presented very nicely and every one really enjoyed our food. The service was also very good and we will return. Highly recommended
