Went here for our second night in Lynmouth. Very nice ambiance, wooden panelled walls, plush carpets and great view over the harbour. I had a fantastic onion tart to start, sounds a little boring but the flavours were amazing and on a par with many top London restaurants, at a fraction of the price. We had the local roasted shell fish for our main courses and it was delicious. The menu is a little limited, however many dinners seemed to be eating from the bar menu but in the restaurant. This was not offered to us so top tip if you dine here ask for the bar menu if you fancy more variety. Good choice of drinks, our chosen wine was a Viognier that was a perfect match with the roasted shell fish main. Overall a very pleasant dinning experience.

Charming old pub with good food. Fish their speciality. Dogs welcome. Think you would need to book a table in the summer.

Service here was poor. The staff were a little too "uppety" to be waiting on people, not very keen to help, generally stoned faced and are likely in the wrong job. Food was nice though

We stayed at the Rising Sun on a trip across Somerset and Devon with our little dog. What a brilliant find. The harbour/riverside location is very special and provides a beautiful outlook to wake up to in the morning. When the masses leave the town, its a cracking little spot for poking around and chilling out. The food in the restaurant area was fantastic and the chef came out personally on request, to talk us through his brilliant creations. The whole place has a really warm friendly feel and everyone we encountered was incredibly welcoming. I wanna go back!

We ate in the bar, (restaurant was fully booked on a Monday in February). Sally had fish expertly cooked with unusually good falvours. I had steak but was persuaded to have it medium rare, but I should have gone for rare as it was an excellent piece of beef. Very friendly staff. Altogether an excellent meal.
