My boyfriend and I stayed here on Boxing Day night for our anniversary. On arrival, the staff were warm, friendly and very welcoming and the check in process was so quick and easy. Thank you for upgrading our room to sea view, we had a lovely view of the harbour as shown in photo.

The room was immaculate and very comfortable, lovely comfy bed and pillows. The ensuite bathroom also overlooked the bathroom and it was nice to see a lovely big bath tub.
We booked a table at the restaurant and ordered from the two courses for £30 menu.
We both had the ribeye steak, cooked to perfection with crispy fluffy chips and an outstanding peppercorn sauce(£3 supplement for Steak understandably).
Dessert was a delicious, a steamed sponge pudding with butterscotch sauce and ice cream.
Both dishes were presented beautifully and the service was brilliant.
We also had breakfast the next morning, I highly recommend the fry up, it was perfectly cooked and you could tell local produce was used.

We were then recommended a nice walk by the lady at the hotel and she also advised us on the road conditions to ensure we drove safely.

Overall both my boyfriend were very impressed, the one tiny criticism I will say is that the WiFi wasn’t good but the weather was horrendous which could of affected it.

Thanks The Rising Sun, needless to say we’ll be back!

Return visit to the Rising Sun - there is nothing not to like. Staff are friendly and helpful, the accommodation is clean, modern, spacious - wonderful to hear the sea. The location is good for walks and access to the coastal path - nice walk up to the blue ball for lunch. In winter there is no issue with parking which is free and you can get a spot out front. The bar is cosy and welcoming and the food is the best around for miles. It’s exceptional.

This restaurant in a lovely old pub was one of those mentioned by the owner of our holiday rental. We were very pleasantly surprised on the two occasions we ate there by how good it is.. The Sunday Lunch was very good although the lamb was not quite as "tender", as I would have wished but my husband was very pleased with his. A plentiful choice of vegetables, the surroundings ( small restaurant in a lovely wood panelled room, napery etc ) and truly attentive but unobtrusive service made us feel "at home".
We returned for a mid-week evening meal for a "special" birthday meal that was far above our expectations . For the main course I chose a fish dish my husband chose pork. These were preceded by a delicious "amuse bouche". The main courses came with a good selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. We both chose the trio of home made sorbet and ice cream with coffee to follow. That plus a good bottle of Shiraz came to £88 Again the service was impeccable - thanks to Kat and the other waitress who not only attended our table but sorted out the Zip on my jacket when she noticed I was having difficulty in fastening it. All in all - A real Birthday treat! And a place to return to.

We popped in for a beer and lunch. As you enter the bar , you are thinking simply how typically seaside , olde style , the Rising sun is. We felt immediately relaxed, found a cosy spot and soaked up the atmosphere, even on a wet windy November lunchtime. The drinks and service were first class , but the food, I can still taste it now , simply excelled. We chose off the bar menu, sandwiches , snacks , it was simply wow. ( we heard similar comments from surrounding diners too) Never had a better sandwich. Very thick homemade bread , could not have been fresher , filled to overflowing with Brie and bacon, on the side , crisps and salad . Why oh why oh why, can other pubs not take a leaf out of the Rising Suns book, and do the simple, brilliantly. When we visit again we will def try out the full restaurant menu. Outstanding, thank you.
