This is our first visit to The Rising Sun and I have got to say that this has to be one of the best meals I’ve ever had!!!!
The staff were very pleasant, helpful and very professional too.
The food was first class ! Beautifully presented and the most wonderful flavours combined in a more than ample portion size. Simply amazing, will definitely be back soon . I would highly recommend this place to anyone

Stayed: February 2018, travelled as a couple

Popped in here for lunch. Nice welcome and good service. Beer selection is good - food a little pricey but really tasty. A real fire would have been so much nicer in January but the glow was nice. May call again but there is plenty of choice of places to eat in town.

We were really pleased you enjoyed your recent visit to us. Our chefs cook to order, using fresh food and where possible locally sourced ingredients and this is reflected in the price and quality of the food we serve. We do agree a real fire would be lovely but unfortunately our insurance company don't agree. We thank you very much for your review and look forward to welcoming you back to the Rising Sun in the future.

We stayed here for a Saturday night break. I had picked it because of the views and reputation for good food. When we got there, even though it was a rainy Saturday in January the parking near the hotel was full, however by the time I had taken in our bag and said hello to the receptionist a parking bay in front of the hotel had already become free (and there is a biggish car park on the front - to the left - which would have been fine).

Our receptionist kindly took our bag up the (steep) stairs - this is an old pub with lots of history - to our room number 11 which had a great view. There is a small residents sitting area upstairs with books and games which is a nice facility. Our room was thoughtfully laid out with lots of storage and a small shower room - it was clean and well maintained.

Both meals we had were good. In particular I enjoyed the seafood stew and ice cream. Breakfast was a highlight ( I asked for fried bread which I know is unfashionable and it was provided with a smile and was very tasty).

We had forgotten (as it turned out) a small piece of medical equipment - when I phoned to ask about it the receptionist kindly posted it on to me.

We were really pleased you enjoyed your break with us and liked the room allocated to you. We don't have our own parking but there is a pay and display car park each end of the village and out of season you can park opposite the Inn space permitting with out restrictions, they start at Easter. Your comments about the food have been passed on to our Chefs and they were much appreciated. We are always more than happy to post items back to our guests. We thank you very much for your review and look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

Lovely quaint place serving brilliant food both in the bar & in the restaurant. The restaurant was warm, cosy & charming. Six of us went for my birthday meal & none of us was disappointed with anything. The service was friendly & impeccable, food was superb & very well presented with plenty of choice. Could find no fault at all & would highly recommend.
Did not stay here but would think the accommodation should be commensurate with the restaurant/bar standard.

My wife and I took a three night break in early January, staying in Shelley's Cottage at the rear of the main hotel. Although more expensive, the accommodation is far larger than the rooms in the hotel itself - well worth it if you can manage a steep slope and some steps. We ate in the hotel every night - a mixture of bar and restaurant dishes. If you like fish and shellfish, this is place for you!

Room Tip: Shelley's Cottage has great views.
