We rented out Rutland Lodge over New Year with a large group of friends (10 in total) so all 5 rooms being en-suite (some with roll-top baths) was a big benefit!
The house is beautiful and has been done up to a good standard with everything you could need and the lounge and dining room were perfect for getting together for meals, drinks and games. It was a shame it was too cold to use the conservatory but I can see this being a great room in the summer.
The only drawback was the kitchen which is on the small side, especially when catering for so many people. In hindsight I would have gotten more takeaways. Another point for me personally is that the mattresses and pillows were too soft, though others might love them.
The owner, who lives next door, was kind and helpful and left us to our own devices - if we needed him we just had to ring a bell and he'd appear as if by magic!
Rutland Lodge is within walking distance to Torquay town centre too (down a big hill though so remember you need to walk back up!) and there's a pub called The Kents is in the other direction where we had a lovely meal. A small Co-Op is 2 minutes walk away too which is ideal for picking up bits and bobs.
