In the last fortnight my wife and I have stayed at the Wessex Royale twice.. On both occasions we were impressed with everything that we experienced. Our room was clean, spacious and airy with all the facilities one would expect of a quality hotel, clean towels, comfortable bed and plenty of coffee etc. The breakfast was superb, not just the usual mundane " full English" but a whole range of taste bud tempting alternatives to follow the selection from the buffet bar. All the staff went out of their way to make sure that our stay was enjoyable, as indeed itwas.

last minute booking for us. clean hotel in the high street. just a couple of doors away from Wetherspoons. We used that for breakfast rather than paying the very expensive £16 pp that the Best western charge.
the bed was very hard and it gave me backache. and i had a latte which was awful. i think the milk had gone off.
apart from that it had a lovely friendly feel
small bit of free parking at the back of the hotel,. probably about 10 cars..
have to say that we enjoyed this place and it was a good position for durdle door, Weymouth and Portland.
restaurant closed due to Covid. staff will make sandwiches etc

Dear Ruth g
Thank you for taking the time to rate the Wessex Royale Hotel so highly. Sorry about the bed and coffee, we can add a mattress topper to make the bed more comfortable. Great to see you enjoyed the friendly feel and central location of the hotel. We look forward to seeing you again.

Unfortunately we had wet weather during our stay, however, the staff who our very proficient and friendly made our stay very comfortable. Our requests/ enquiries were dealt with promptly a efficiently. The courtyard was in dire need of redecoration and parking (as stated) is limited. Our room was quite small with just 2'6" beds that were unfortunately hard /very hard. The gap between was just 15". The quality of the breakfast was excellent, however. On the first morning two of our party requested fried bread which they got but then had to sacrifice the toast. At £200 per night we thought that this was particularly mean. The following morning we were served by a different member of staff who gave us both.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We are glad that you found the staff friendly and proficient, and that you enjoyed the breakfast. We are sorry that you experienced a misunderstanding with a breakfast waiter over toast, you would be more than welcome to both fried bread and toast. We hope that you had a pleasant visit to Dorset, and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Well located in the centre of Dorchester, this Best Western Hotel is definitely ok for a weekend visit. The room the wife and I had was on the first floor was small and dominated by a large bed but was quite adequate for the one night we were there. Car parking is limited so if you take the car out and come back too late you might well have to park somewhere else which is what happened to us and I was fishing for coins late at night in driving rain. To be fair Alan at reception, very friendly and helpful, had told us this might happen so it wasn't that much of a problem. The breakfast was OK, had the full English (continental and vegan options were also available) and the service was excellent and Covid safe.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. The rooms in our hotel vary in size as it is an old coaching inn, dating back to the 1750's. Our on site car park is limited, but we are lucky enough to have a public pay and display 2 minutes from the hotel, and this is free overnight. We hope that you had a great visit to Dorset, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Had a small issue with my room which was easily resolved by the very helpful Cary (quite late at night too).

All other staff I dealt with were also polite and helpful. Breakfast is good too.

Hotel was well situated with many restaurants and pubs within walking distance.
