The food served at the Blue Man is simple yet complex, reflecting the tastes of the North Africa seemingly effortlessly. Not a crumb was left on anyone's plate! The ambience is low key, with lots of decorations whisking you away to the Mahgreb. Service was unrushed, friendly and helpful.

The restaurant is beautiful, inviting and warm. Each table is decorated with a beautiful lantern and the decor is typically North african. The toilets have their own charm with every detail covered, really lovely. My husband and I went early for dinner and therefore found a quiet restaurant. We felt at home instantly and relaxed. The music was lovely and at the right volume, the hostess Joanna was welcoming and made us feel at ease. We shared a starter of crab in filo pastry parcels which were lovely and unique, my husband had the lamb tagine as a main and I had the Algerian bouillabaisse. It was really yummy. The spices were not too strong, really well balanced. We finished our meal with home made baklava and that says it all. It was made with honey and not syrup and rosewater, it was not too sweet to taste in fact it was just delicious. We have known The blue man cafe for a long time and have been regular customers over the years, I am delighted to say I will be going back to the restaurant, a real gem in the middle of Kemptown.

Although Blue Man aka Magic has been in Brighton for decades, I am ashamed to say I have only just tried his food! Generally North African, the food is hearty but healthy. Good choice of starters and nibbles and mains ranged from pigeon to vegan options and there was plenty of it. Service was prompt and unfussy. The restaurant is in a fabulous old townhouse lovingly restored and sensitively decorated with the restaurant over two floors with toilets at the top. (Very nice). Beware less able bodied persons as the stairs up to the toilets are quite steep and narrow. Great value, fun evening. Highly recommended!

We have been fans of the Blue Man in all its incarnations but the new restaurant has a beautiful evocative décor and the food is superb. Staff were very attentive and the immediate offer of fresh water was much appreciated. We will definitely return again soon to enjoy the peaceful, intimate atmosphere and the lovely mood-setting music.
