We returned to the Old Ship for our annual Birthday weekend trip to Brighton. This hotel never disappoints us. This time we had a sea view room and it was fabulous to watch over the beach and hear the waves crashing. Lovely big bathroom with fluffy towels and white Co products. Room was lovely and warm and cozy to return back to in the cold wet weather we ‘enjoyed’ over Easter
Breakfast was fabulous every day and a massive choice of great quality food -something to suit everyone!
Lovely to see Gill in the restaurant again-she is a treasure , as are all of the staff we meet in this hotel
We love the fact we can drop the car in the hotels safe locked garage -£25 a day is a fair price in Brighton!
thank you to the team at the ship,We look forwards to the next visit

Enjoyed our stay in this lovely old hotel. Public areas are very stylish - obviously newly renovated. Bedroom was very spacious with enormous en-suite but a little shabby. Presumably bedrooms will be upgraded in due course. Lovely views over the sea/pier and super convenient for all tourist attractions

Stayed for a couple of nights while attending a funeral in the area. Driving directions on the website were very helpful as was the garage attendant. The cost for parking under cover at the hotel is very reasonable for Brighton, and there is direct access to the hotel from the garage without having to go outside. We had reserved a room with a king bed, not realizing that a U.K. King is the same size as a USA Queen sized bed. They do have some rooms with Super King’s so next time we will contact the hotel directly and request one. The room is pretty basic as is the bathroom. Both were clean and serviced well by the staff. The bathroom could use more powerful lighting. On arrival we noticed the toilet seat was not fully attached. We notified reception and it was rectified immediately. We ate in the bar once and had breakfast in the restaurant twice. All meals were adequate. The hotel itself is a very old building. It has character and overlooks the seafront. It’s handy for the town center and many restaurants. We will have no issue staying there again.

Having got tickets for daughter to Brighton Centre, we booked a stay at The Old Ship. First impressions were good as it was located on the seafront a very short stroll from Brighton Centre. With private secure parking, that wasn't overly expensive again we were pleased. The public hotel areas are traditionally furnished, almost like an old style cruise ship. The reception staff were very helpful. We booked a twin room but had a double - which was ok although I was travelling with young daughter, so would have preferred the twin. However the room had good facilities and was nicely decorated, the view was a little disappointing but otherwise we were more than satisfied. Breakfast was well stocked and of a good standard in a light comfy restaurant area. The Lanes are very close and we ventured into main shopping area by foot with ease. Overall we were more than happy with our stay and would definitely book to stay here again.

Right on the front, the location couldn't be any better for the price. We had a standard room, which offered no view. However, it was quiet and we slept with the window open without any disturbance at all. I suspect a sea-view room would offer a tremendous view on a nice day, but as we spent very little time in the room, I don't think this was an extra worth paying for.
Our room was a good size and very clean and tidy. The bed was a little in need of a new mattress, as it slumped in the middle. But this didn't affect our sleep. The shower is on the small size for me, as a large bloke, but, again, not something that affected our stay at all.
Breakfast on offer was excellent. Food selection was very large, and, unlike some buffet-style meals at hotels, the cooked food wasn't cold or greasy. Certainly well worth the extra money.
The only minor gripe is the cost of parking. £25 per day seems a little steep, although I confess to not really shopping around. I know parking in Brighton can be expensive. There is an NCP 2 streets down, but I'm not sure if that is cheaper. I will check next time I'm down!
All in all, an excellent stay. Staff were polite and helpful, and the lobby and bar are very nice places to spend a little time in. The attached restaurant Steak On Sea is also excellent if you are after a little fine dining.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear would be less exposed to road noise, although there is no view.
