With a name like 'Queen of Thai Soups' (as listed on their menu) you would expect the Tom Yum Goong to be a decadent meal. Sadly, while it tasted good, it was more like pauper's fare: a few prawns and 4 mushrooms floating around in a watery broth. It wasn't worth the £6.50 we were charged for it, and it wasn't filling enough to be a meal on it's own - we ended up cooking some of our own noodles to add to the dish. Muang Thai should try to avoid disappointing customers in the future by listing the Tom Yum Goong as an appropriately priced appetizer. To be fair, the rest of the dishes we ordered were reasonably filling and tasted good.
As for the service, the lady who took our payment details hung up so quickly we didnt have time to ask when we could expect our meal to be delivered, and we ended up calling the restaurant an hour after we had ordered to check the progress of our order (they couldn't say for sure when it would arrive at that point, and it ultimately arrived 1 hour and 20 minutes after we had ordered). They didn't resolve our complaint about the Tom Yum Goong in a satisfactory manner, either, arguing about how many prawns were in the soup, and only offering "a few extra prawns next time [we ordered]". If someone is annoyed enough to complain about your food, it's not wise to expect them to buy it again, at full price, with the promise that it will be only slightly better next time!
