A real quaint pub, fantastic interior, food is all home cooked, widest selection of gin I've seen. Well worth a visit

The music on Thursday evenings is very good and together with a starter or light bite and some of The Globe's excellent wines, beers or huge selection of gin, makes for a really enjoyable evening. We recently had a lunch with 8 friends during Rye Bay Scallop Festival week and some of the meals were 5* and other 2-3*. The mains always seem more expensive than they should be (£22 during scallop week). Wonderful atmosphere, lovely staff--but unfortunately the food is mixed---they can make it better but this needs some better oversight.

A new venue for us, although we are regular visitors to Rye, it was quiet when we arrived but soon filled up by 8.30pm. We had a shared starter that was presented in scallop shells and looked as good as it tasted. I had a steak which was cooked as requested and my wife had Rye Marsh lamb, which she loved. Great desserts and good service, very nice indeed.

if you prefer the visual rather than the product the globe is great. they really have put a lot of thought into the environment and your expectations are heightened by the decor and menu descriptions. Then the food arrives and it is like shopping in liberty's and ending up with a primark outfit. the food is mediocre and knocked together unfortunately priced to suit the environment rather than the quality. Would be so fantastic if both matched and I would be a regular!

On arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the look and feel of this pub the staff were friendly and welcoming. We sat at a table near the toilets. The bench seat was too high for the table and I felt like I was sitting on a park bench. The whole restaurant was incredibly hot. We had mushrooms on toast, tomato and mozzarella and Camembert to start our meal. The mushroom and Camembert starters were nice. The tomato and mozzarella was severely lacking in mozzarella. For mains we had sirloin steaks, cod and fish pie. The steaks were thoroughly awful, chewy and gristly. Cod was nice but my friend didn’t really like the accompaniments. The fish pie was nice but was served with a plate of whitebait which we were informed should have topped the pie, this was not mentioned on the menu, or my friend would not have ordered it. We were trying this restaurant out for a celebratory meal we are planning for a group of friends in the summer. Unfortunately we were sadly disappointed and will not be making any return visits. Also a note: the ladies toilet was grim and in need of a thorough clean.
