The Daffodil is a restaurant with a wow factor. I ate there the other day with my husband and had the most fabulous meal. The restaurant is located in an old art-deco cinema and it is just stunning.

The staff are attentive, the venue is great and food was fabulous. I would really recommend the cheese souffle - it was drenched in a devine cheesy sauce - probably the best starter I have ever had.

The restaurant does also have an upstairs cocktail bar. We had a quick drink there before having dinner. I would definitely visit again - either to eat or simply just to have drinks.

when i walked into the daffodil it looked amazing beautiful bar upstairs and lovelt decor. we were in a large party and found the service to be very slow, i asked for some water and the waitress came over with a tiny vase of water and proceeded to poor about an inch each in our glasses ( she did the same thing every time i asked for more which ended up being about 10 times to get a glasses worth!) table was booked for 7 and we we ordered atraight away and we didnt get our deserts till 9.30 with very long waits between courses. and when the food did eventually come i was slightly disappointed that parts of the meal were cold.

Monday night is Jazz night at the Daffodil and we went to celebrate my wife's birthday. The Tom Hill trio were playing and we had a lovely evening. From the welcome at the door when we arrived, the ambience of the interior, to the quality of the food and service. A great place to go.

As soon as we walked through the door we were made very welcome. We called in on the Monday to book our table for the Tuesday evening and when we returned on the Tuesday we were recognised by the lady whom we booked with. We were early so went up to the bar for a drink, where again we were welcomed warmly. My partner and I sat down to have a look through the extensive cocktail and bar drinks menu and enjoyed a drink before being informed of which our table was. When it came to ordering our food we were guided by our waiter, Kris as to what was good this evening and we decided upon "The Daffodil discovery menu".
We had a very good selection of 4 starters which were all very tasty. We had the Pan Seared Scallops, Aromatic crispy duck, twice baked double Gloucester soufflé and the prawn and crayfish cocktail. These were not small portions either. Then we decided upon the Whole Grilled Lobster Thermidor, which my partner had not tried before. I thoroughly enjoyed this, however my girlfriend was not so keen but still tried it anyway. When it came to desserts we had a very nice selection of 5 off the main menu. All of these were very nice, however neither of us are fans of fruit cake so we did not eat this but we had had sufficient anyway.
We had a bottle of red wine also and our bill totalled £111.50 which I thought was reasonable value for 4 courses plus wine and 2 drinks plus bottles water.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends, as my girlfriend did to me as this is her favourite restaurant.
