“loved this place.”

The wife and i have stayed here a few times and we all-ways have a brilliant time in this homely cottage. we both love the character of the place and we could not have asked for more. placed in a ideal location and the cottage having all the facilities that you would need for a quaint getaway. we will definitely stay here again ;)

“Tiny cottage,in need of full reburbishment, not suitable for rent.”

Whilst this appears to be a quaint cottage , and probably suits the owners needs , it is not suitable for rent as a holiday cottage. Its quaint look covers the fact that anyone over 6 feet tall , will be hitting their heads on the low beams, and for people under 6ft tall the deep step down into the kitchen will ensure you can hit your head too .
The cooker is so old that the temperature and cooker settings printed around the knobs have completly worn off , making it unsuitable for most cooks.
The gas hob has one ring not working. The fridge door inner compartments are falling off so much so that you can not milk or other bottles in the door.
Many of the kitchen appliances are cracked or broken , the non stick pans are no longer non stick as the coating was removed along time ago.

The high cost of rent £450 is exaserbated by the gas and electric meters that will add approx £40 for just one week.
I have rented cottages in the stroud area before , and there are a lot of goods ones , unfortunately this is not one of them.

The advert for the cottage states quite clearly that it has low ceilings & exposed beams .It also states that the cottage is over 400 years old & it is well known that at that time people were much shorter than today.
In the 22 .years that I have owned this cottage nobody has ever stated that ceiling height was a problem,it is in fact part of the charm of the cottage. The step down into the kitchen is low but is clearly marked & all it requires is is for a little common sense to be applied
I personally am six foot tall and even in the lowest part of the lounge my head does not touch the beam
The oven is electric & 4 years old.Although it can be difficult to see the setting marks clear written instructions are provided next to the cooker which make use easy.
The gas hob is also 4 years old, & if the back jet is not working as claimed then it is news to me & I will have it repaired.I am sorry if this caused a problem
There are no non stick pans at the cottage & never have been.We only use stainless steel. The type of saucepans used can clearly be seen in one of the kitchen photographs
As to the cost of renting the cottage I would like to point out that nobody forced the reviewer to rent it & in fact the price charged was lower than most similar cottages for this period in the area. Also again the advert clearly states that gas & electric are no pay as you go meters & we all know that they are now expensive
Finally please look on the Trip advisor site for this cottage. Here you can see other reviews that this person has submitted.Up until this time all reviews submitted are either POOR or TERRIBLE

“Cottage full of character”
Reviewed 14 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We had a great time at this cottage. What I liked most was the character of the old cottage with history literally hanging on the walls. For me, I much prefer this type of authentic old place to the more modern holiday cottages around. It's a bit like having an old but cherished car; yes there are some rough-around-the-edges bits here and there, but it's character will win your heart over every time.

Liked best: Have I mentioned character already?! Location was good and the convenience of having a newsagents and fish & chip shop a stone's throw away.
Liked least: The weather!!!

well appointed, all I and my son needed, good parking and central to village. real ale pub 150 yards and a good fish and chips120 yards. Stroud has good shopping for anything you forget and walkable if keen.
