We stayed at the Victoria Court on a Saturday night when attending a family party. The B&B was perfectly situated a mere 5 minute walk from the venue of the party so was perfect!
It's a very well run business with comfortable and very well stocked rooms. The owners cater for everything you could possibly need, including plenty of towels, nice thick pillows, toiletries, hair dryer and iron! A welcome pack is waiting for you when you arrive in case the owner is unavailable and you can also reserve garage parking (free street parking nearby but it does get busy).
Breakfast is pre-ordered the evening before and is freshly cooked at the time of your choice (within their breakfast hours). Full cooked English breakfast was delicious and generously portioned. Cereals and yogurts also freely available and veggie or continental alternatives too.
Owner is very welcoming and makes friendly chit chat, he also trades your key for a small box of chocolates on your check out!
We really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again! Very comfortable and very reasonably priced. It's nice to get a proper turn key and a friendly face instead of a key-card at the chain hotels!

Room Tip: Rooms on three floors so ask for ground floor if you find stairs difficult.

Dear Lukin128

Thank you for your “excellent” review and for taking the time to write it. I hope the family party went well and that you will come again soon and enjoy some of the sights that Portsmouth has to offer. All of which are within walking distance.

Best wishes and thank you again

We stayed here for 2 nights, arriving Friday evening so that we could take part in a charity cycle ride bright and early on Saturday morning. The owner was extremely accommodating and helpful and even loaned me a bike tool for the day! The room we stayed In was extremely spacious and clean, the bathroom a little cosy but perfectly functional and and the rate we paid still great value. we got to sample both the continental and cooked breakfasts and both were perfect. The breakfast room was also beautifully decorated. Location-wise, the b&b is less than 10min cycle ride from Portsmouth Harbour station, although Fratton is probably half that. There are loads of restaurants within easy reach. In summary, we wouldnt hesitate to stay here again if visiting portsmouth in the future!

Dear mah299

Thank you for the review, its nice to meet up with other cyclists. I hope you sorted the bike out on your return. A few years ago I cycled from Fratton station to here in less than 2 minutes whether I can do that today I don’t know. Perhaps you might try round the Island next year.

Best wishes and thank you again

We stayed here for a wedding from Fri-sunday in July 2011. A lovely clean and bright building. Spacious rooms and double glazing really kept out the noise of the street outside. A good breakfast also. David even gave us a box of chocolates when we checked out- lovely touch and would definately stay here again. Thank you

hotel was excellent, room clean and tidy plenty of hot water and close to all amenities. the breakfast is the best i have ever had, hot and plenty to eat. i have stayed at a number of hotels and would recommend this one to anyone visiting portsmouth. On leaving we were even given a small box of chocolates which was so thoughtful and something that has never happened anywhere else i have stayed, thank you to both david and vicky for making our stay so comfortable.

Room 7 was large, quiet, en-suite and equipped with modern widescreen slimline TV, drinks-making facilities and with proper sheets on the big bed. Next morning, a well above average full piping-hot English was served in the basement breakfast room by the friendly and obliging proprietor. The coffee was instant, bland and luke warm but you can't have everything for a bargain £45 a night.
Victoria Court is well-positioned close to the "strip" on Albert Road and it's not far to the front at Southsea.
On checking out we were presented with an Easter gift : a little box of quality Lindor chocs. Can't say I've encountered anything of that sort before and I know where I'll be staying on the next trip to Portsmouth.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back.

Dear Barnabee797

Room 7 is one off my favourite rooms, I think it’s at the top and the sky always looks lovely. The taste of the coffee is in the hands of the brands either Nescafe or Kenco. If you want hotter water from the heated dispenser there is a reboil button. However you have a valid point and I have tried preloading cafetieres with ground coffee but it often meant that the coffee would be hanging around. However I have come across sachets of ground coffee for 2 cup cafetieres and I will give this a try in the near future. Thank you for taking time out for the lovely review.

Best wishes and thank you again
