Over priced and over hyped.
Don't go if you're hungry because the portions are small.
Very few vegetarian options available.
Crowded. Can take a while to get a table.
Lovely view/location and nice milkshake - they're the only positives for me.

Thank hellosaskia

Hi hellosaskia,

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your last visit to us but enjoyed the location and drinks.

We work tirelessly on our menu and look to appeal to as many dietary requirements as possible without diluting what we are doing. We currently have 8 dishes on our breakfast menu that are specifically for vegetarians and 6 vegetarian dishes on our lunch menu. If you are a pescatarian and eat fish then you have even more options available to you on both breakfast and lunch. We are very hot on portion size to make sure people have enough to eat but also to keep consistency.

With regards to your comment about being over priced. We feel we are very competitively priced when you take into consideration we only produce food from fresh ingredients so nothing is brought in and heated through in a microwave. Our breakfast menu ranges from £2.50 to £9.00 with the average dish price at £6.90. Our lunch menu selection starts at £6.50 and we only have three dishes above £10. Taking into consideration the fresh ingredients we use, the table service we provide to all of our customers and the facility we aim to maintain and provide people on the beach we feel our pricing is in line if not more competitive than other establishments in a similar location or offering to ours.

We do sometimes have a wait for tables. Unfortunately, if all of our tables are taken then there can sometimes be a wait to be seated. Unfortunately, there is very little we can do about this apart from the waiting list service we operate where we take your details down and call you back when you table to ready. Yes we can get very busy but I don't feel we could be described as crowded. We still provide the largest tables 700mmx700mm square within the area so plenty of room for each guest and also space between the tables to walk around the restaurant.

We do appreciate everyone has a different perspective on things so I would be interested to personally hear from you as to how you think we can improve upon our vegetarian options and portion sizes. My personal email address is ian@southseabeachcafe.co.uk or you can contact me directly at the cafe on 023 92 832854. Regards Ian Clarke

It was very cold in there, they have some heaters but need more. Maybe they should have blankets?
The food was ok but not great. Focaccia was nice. Burger tasted quite strange and had an almost slimy consistency, the brioche Bun was dry. Chips were great. One of our group ordered crab mac and cheese, we saw two other tables send it back and say it was awful. Ours was on the counter to come out but we got the rest of our meals and the mac and cheese went back in the pan?? No explanation..... it came out and was slimy, lacked the flavour of cheese or crab?? Not really sure what it was.
Fish and chips were good but on the table next to us a girl took her first bite and got a mouthful of bones.
I expected great things from this restaurant but won’t be back

The signs outside say open daily from 8am so we waited around for opening and were turned away because ‘today’ they open at 9am! Would have been nice for them to include that on the signage. Guy was rude too like we should have known!

Hi Jez S

Sorry you didn’t get to come into the cafe. We do make every effect to make our opening times as clear as possible. I have uploaded a picture of the pillar boards at the entrance showing our current opening times. As you will see these clearly state we open at 9am Monday to Friday and 8am at the weekend.

Visited for breakfast last week on a sunny day and the food and service was very good. A great spot right on the beach with plenty of parking close by.

I visited the Beach Cafe for lunch with a friend. It had a good atmosphere & the staff were friendly. They were also knowledgeable about the menu. We had the fishcakes which were nice enough. However, they were quite small and not very filling. They also cost £9 which I didn't think was very good value for money. I was hungry again an hour later!
