Our stay at the Elizabeth house was very pleasant. We chose it because we were traveling with Olive, our French Bulldog, and they allow pets. Pet friendly doesn’t even begin to describe it, the staff adored our dog and were very accommodating to our needs. Each and every person who works there are so nice and they make you feel very welcome. The hotel is nicely situated near many parks and the downtown area. The room was comfortable and the bathroom ample. Unfortunately they introduced me to fried toast which I indulged myself in at their ample breakfast since I was on vacation!

So pleased To be greated by a very nice receptionist. Checked in and found room to be lovely.
Breakfast filling. Tasty and fresh.
The hotel is very nice. Struggled with parking. But then advised we could double park yelloemw ribboned area as those guest was away on cruises.

The staff were very helpful, and the lady who did the breakfast is very knowledgeable about thing tourist might want to do. Central to shopping areas. There were large number of place to eat around the hotel, and if you did not wish to go out food was available at the hotel.

What can i say about this hotel? Disappointed.
I booked this on the strength of past reviews as Trip rarely gets it wrong but i have to admit that i was very disappointed and i really can't recommend this hotel, especially for business travellers.
It all started with the parking, or lack of. ok, it didn't help that they were doing building work but on arrival in the car park, there were vans everywhere and no space to park. Finally i was guided to a precarious space blocking in another car but sticking out in to the car park, so dangerously close to the vans. I think the problem stems from the fact that they rent out long term spaces to cruise travellers, so many of the spaces are taken up by them, leaving little room for hotel guests. Not impressed.
Check-in was fine but when i went to my room, i found the following:
Boiling hot room with no aircon, no fan. They said they could offer me a fan but honestly, it was so hot, that wouldn't have done anything. Windows only open a fraction, so i had no air circulating. It was a nightmare!
Wifi reception was terrible. Very slow and intermittent.
Curtains were so light that it was bright in the room at 5am!
Room is near a busy road, so traffic is noisy.
So as you can see, bad for any guests but for a businessman, all the fundamentals were missing - cool room, good wifi and good night's sleep.
Breakfast was fine but nothing special. Egg was overcooked and the portion size was small. Again disappointing.
So i really can't recommend this hotel and i wouldn't stay again. Certainly not worth paying the £95 when you can stay in Southampton for the same/less and get better.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I appreciate any feedback, both positive and negative, as it helps me understand where we can improve for the future.

Apologies to hear that your stay wasn't up to our normal standard. It's unfortunate that your visit was during a period of refurbishment and I hope you can appreciate any works planned need to be completed swiftly, hence the number of vans on-site at the time.

A fan was offered and the windows have been recently replaced. The windows have a safety limit on them, for everyone's protection but we could have released them if requested.

We receive comments about the strength and the quality of Wifi access - so again not sure why there were any issues. If devices are not picking up the connection as strongly as they should, we could involve our technical support to resolve for you.

Your review is very disappointing and certainly not what we aim to deliver.

If you'd like to stay with us again, please contact me directly- mail@elizabethousehotel.com.

Regards

Jamie

We booked the Elizabeth house hotel as it was located near the Docks as we were leaving on a cruise the following day
First time in this hotel but definitely not the last
I was looking forward to our stay from the moment we booked because of the lovely attitude of the receptionist who not only does the bookings but also serves breakfast with a smile
It is a family run hotel who obviously have their customers at the front of their minds
They deserve more Than 2 stars
Apparently they cannot get more because they do not open their restaurant 7 days a week
Highly recommended will definitely return
To see Jamie and his team again
This is a jewel in Southampton
Don’t miss it
