Arriving early at the hotel after a long flight the young man at reception was happy to take us to our room as it was ready. The room was very clean and impressive Decor and a large flat screen television with Netflix. My husband and I dined in the Restraunt for Dinner we ordered Steak Pie and Caesar Salad plus we couldn’t resist the dessert menu and breakfast was full English and a Continental which had quite a variety. Staff were friendly hotel very clean with impressive food. Free parking in the forecourt. Definitely recommend.

Booked last minute over the phone Reception very helpful however why they need a copy of your driving licence is beyond me and what a disappointment. Room 8 an attic room was horrendously got no sleep at all and the bathroom was filthy. Smelt of damp, no window and the glass shower screen was stained with lime scale with grime in the edges. We decided not to use the shower and waited until we got home. Continental breakfast was included which consisted of green mouldy bread some cheese and ham. The little fruit pots were delicious, however as we got to breakfast at 9.20am he started clearing it away whilst we were still there and didn’t get the opportunity to finish. They charge extra for a cooked breakfast....Never seen this before.
Overall not a good experience - wouldn’t stay again for free.

Room Tip: Do not book room 8

Check in was quick and very friendly by Mathew, stayed 2 nights, first in newly renovated Southampton room that included a large flat screen TV with lots of movies and TV show options via an Apple TV. The bathroom was modern and spacious with face washers (only hotel during our tour), shower was powerful and hot. The room included a stocked mini bar and quality coffee pod machine. Bed was super comfy, had a great nights sleep. A nice personal touch was a box of complimentary chocolates and fresh flowers on arrival.
After check in and a very relaxing drink at the bar served by Joe we ventured to the lighted outdoor area and ordered dinner that consisted of confit duck (amazing dish by the young chef) and chicken Caesar salad.
Breakfast included a full english for only 7.50 (everywhere else was 10 or more!!) served by Colin.
The second night we were moved to another room on the 1st floor that again was amazing and we relaxed in the bar that evening with friendly service by Sylvia.
We highly recommend this hotel and thank the management for a great stay and friendly staff.
We intend to return to this hotel for our last night in the UK

Room Tip: Some rooms have been newly renovated

Stayed for one night, booked a standard room but was upgraded a lovely room, a small sweet hotel, very friendly staff, very nice breakfast, also no extra for parking, if you don’t want the usual corporate sameness at 2 times the price this is a good value for money small English hotel, also nice and quiet, will definitely book again.

Room Tip: Room 6 was very quiet, very comfortable bed, great shower

Okay, but not what expected. Check-in was okay. Employee helped up take our luggage upstairs to our room – no elevators. Lugging our luggage up the stairs was a definite inconvenience. Room was small – tight quarters. Bed was okay. We ate dinner here and it was very good. Our room was on the first floor (one floor above ground level). I understand some of the rooms on the second floor have angled beams and areas with lower ceiling that can be a bit dangerous. Staff members were pleasant.

Room Tip: Be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs -- no elevator.

Thankyou for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. With regards to your comments about no lift, we do have this written in all correspsondace including all websites and booking confirmations I’m sorry that you missed this information before making your booking. As you could well imagine a building that was built in the 1700’s would be impossible to add a lift to in 2018. As you stayed in a deluxe room on the first floor with a 2 mtr wide stair case with 1 flight of stair in a newly renovated room with brand new furnishings Apple TV, Nespresso coffee machine 53inch Smart Tv Mini and much more I must add I am extremely disappointed that you choose the add to your review an opinion on a room and the second floor that you didn’t see nor stay in. I would have hoped that your deluxe room or your hot breakfast with conjntential that has 15 different choices was worthy of reviewing instead.
