Been coming here for years. Perfectly situated for a Sunday stroll around St Albans, the Cathedral and it's surrounding parks. Hearty, tasty Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Staff are really pleasant and friendly. Recommended!

What a hot day to visit! Obviously we headed straight for the beer garden but there were few umbrellas so plenty of open unusable tables. We sat under awning which was fine but there were no flowers. Okay. Maybe more of a winter place!

Hello Karen
We have thousands of people that visit our garden and believe it or not, not everyone wants an umbrella like you. To say unusable area is not only wrong but completely unreasonable and very misleading. 70% of our garden is covered or has an umbrella. That's for people like you, who like to hide in the sun. Thankfully all our customers are different and we respect all their requirements.
No flowers? Your right, they are not on every one of our 40 tables in the garden but do have flowers and you must have missed the 20 odd hanging baskets.
Everyone in St Albans knows this is a summer pub and feel you may have just been having a bad day and just sounds like moaning for no or very little reason me.
I don't agree with anything you have said.

Nice roast Sunday in this lovely pub, super nice positioned.
The food was really good, tasty and complete; the beer garden has a nice spot view on the lake and park side.
We had to wait a bit for the food, but was a good Sunday roast in a nice old pub surrounded by nature!
I would highly recommend a stop if you are in the area.

Love this place! Me and my boyfriend often take a walk around the lake with our jack Russel and then pop in for a bite to eat and a strawberry beer , lovely in the summer and lovely in the winter too! It's such a nice cosy place to be in the winter! Amazing!

My long term favourite pub! Not only has history but it is a charming place!

Food and beer is good! Beer garden is nice but get crowded in the summer! They do very nice pizza at the garden!

Definitely worth a visit if you are around!
