From the moment we arrived, bubbly and chocolates left for us in the fridge, everything was perfect. We loved the cottage, the location and the weather was even in our favour. Pub very nearby serving good food all day.
Would recommend highly to anyone.

We had a short break in October with our 2 dogs. Hubby went fishing. Ate in the pub opposite-great food. Dogs enjoyed the walks. Nice and relaxing-really chilled. Would highly recommend.

“perfect in every way, fantastic getaway!”
Reviewed 14 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

We (young couple) have returned from a delightful weekend in Dog and Duck cottage. The cottage is spacious, incredibly convenient with endless character. Modern touches (e.g. large cooker, jacuzzi power shower - with built in radio!, sky tv and white goods) make this a cottage that packs a punch!

The open plan kitchen/diner easily accomodates 4+ people and a dining room/conservatory has additional seating for 6. Cook up a feast looking out over the river, watching the ducks and rowers...beautiful.

The bedrooms were very comfy and clean, one with a very convenient loo and sink. At night we didn't hear a thing, other than the odd Moore hen and owl!

We didn't have a car which wasn't a problem for us. Being keen walkers, we explored the river and walked to local villages/towns. The nearest pub is next door which served lovely food and the staff were very friendly.

All in all exactly what we needed after busy London life, felt fully recharged after the weekend, albeit rather glum at leaving the cottage!

We will be returning...

“So much more than it looks. Perfect in every way”

We spent 4 days here over a long weekend and can honestly say that this cottage exceeded expectations in every area.
Having stayed in many cottages over the years we have become used to compromise in some area or another - small tv, bad cooker, cramped rooms, uncomfortable beds, there is always something. There was everything here that we could have wanted.
The only thing that lets this cottage down is the pictures on the website. We nearly did not book aas it looked a little small and possibly a touch jaded. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Beautifully warm on arrival. Very helpful pub staff. "Rangemaster" cooker with 6 gas rings, 2 ovens and a grill. Every conceivable pan, pot, utensil, bowl that you could possibly waish for. Large, flat-screen TV with SKY. Conservatory with 6 seater dining table (this in addition to the one in the kitchen). 2 very comfortable double bedrooms. beautiful coal fire. Lovely small garden with covered bench area. A well stocked fishing river (4-5lb pike, bream, etc). Very dog-friendly walks along the riverbank. Amazing power shower and jacuzzi bath. 3 separate WC. Simple, speedy Wi-Fi. Good CD stereo in the kitchen. Fridge and freezer. Endless condiments, tins, spices, liqueurs of all descriptions (all based on a use and replace system).
Be aware that the stairs up to the bedrooms are steep. They are well carpeted and a good handrail is provided but the infirm might struggle.
In short, this cottage delivers above and beyond in all areas. very highly recommended.
