My wife and I have just spent 3 nights at the Clare Ellen guest house. We received a warm welcome from the owner who took the time to recommend places of interest and good places to eat. Our room was a double ensuite which was spotlessly clean and comfortable with all the facilities we needed for our stay. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. It is in a quiet area and is in easy walking distance to city centre. We would highly recommend a stay here if you visit Canterbury. We would certainly book again.

Room Tip: Any room would be good as location is in a quiet area

Room was slightly small for 2 adults and 2 children but to be expected for the price. Shower room was small for my husband to stand up to use the toilet. We were located on the top floor so managed stairs fine although I would suggest if you weren't good with stairs maybe ask for 1st floor. Rooms were clean & staff were friendly & full of local information.

I totally recommend this place, is really close to the centre, the rooms are clean and tidy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Absolutely great experience, even for non-English speaking guests.

Stayed for 4 nights in a very comfy room with my young son as well, who particularly enjoyed the biscuits and hot chocolate.Beds comfortable, cleaned daily with replenishments, quiet area but within walking distance of around 10 mins to main town, but only a £4 ish fair if preferred.Locally a few minutes walk to a couple of chip shops,Indian restaurant/takeaway,cafe,convenience shops.Breakfasts cooked to what ever you wished with cereals, fresh fruit, omlettes, yogurts, toast, juice, teas, coffees, etc.Highly recommended

Stayed here for one night over the 12th/13th July 14. I stayed here with my mother, father and boyfriend. The staff are really friendly, from the moment we arrived we were given maps of the area which Ahmed (Owner) marked with the main attractions for us and bus stops to help us get around. We were shown round the hotel, and the left to our own devices.

The rooms are well furnished and laid out well. Beds were comfortable and the showers were lovely and hot. The two rooms we had (My mother and father in one, me and my boyfriend in the other) came with a TV, kettle, hair dryer, mirror, and fridge full of milk. Not to mention a large supply of teas, coffees, biscuits, and hot chocolates. Breakfast is served between 8am and 9am, which is a bit early, but an early start with the promise of a full English is not too bad!

Loved the rooms, loved the atmosphere, and loved the service we received!
Thank you for a wonderful time!

On a side note! When viewing the hotel on their website, the rooms images are not up to date! They are much more fashionable and tame in design.
