Just a one night stay at the Innkeepers Lodge to celebrate a friend's birthday and also a wedding anniversary. The staff were welcoming and friendly upon our arrival and showed us to our comfortable, modern rooms. We had brought a couple of bottles of fizz with us to celebrate the 2 occasions and on request these were placed in the fridges downstairs to keep cool before our early evening celebrations. A member of staff brought both bottles up to one of the rooms in ice buckets with flutes containing fresh strawberries. We thought this was a very nice touch and good customer service.
The accomodation is right in the heart of Ambleside, a great location all round.
We had breakfast the next day, continental is free but if you require a cooked breakfast it is a reasonable cost. They also did vegetarian breakfast which was nice.
The only drawback for me personally was I couldn't open my bedroom window to full capacity. It was a scorching hot day but the windows would only open a small way due to security reasons.
Other than this, I would have no hesitation in recommending this accomodation to anyone.

We stayed in one of the family rooms - one adult, a 4 yr old and a 7 month old. There was plenty space in the room and it had everything we needed. It was however far too hot, even with the radiator turned off it was like a sauna and having the window open let barely any air in. It also made what would’ve been a not too noisy room, given the location, into a noisy room. The little one had to sleep in just a vest! The pipes during the night were also very noisy and woke my 4 yr old several times. I suspect the building is quite old so to be fair this is not something to complain about but it is something to be aware of if you are booking with small people. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t review that, though it looked nice enough. The staff were pleasant, although the number of them who saw me struggling up 2 flights of steps (with a locked door between) with 2 children and our baggage and making several trips to the car, I’m sure one could’ve offered a helping hand. It’s also not ideal if you are arriving during busy pub hours as we had to get all our bags in through the bar area. Having said all that it is advertised as a budget hotel and, other than the heat, the room was clean enough and did the job for us. Great location.

We booked for two nights midweek break in a family room. The hotel/pub is right in the heart of beautiful ambleside and there is free parking at the rear of the hotel with about 8 spaces so you will have a place. We arrived at 12.30 so had lunch at the pub and straight away you are made so welcome and throughout our stay was the same such a genuine team and nothing is any trouble. The food menu is fantastic and I am a vegetarian so the options are very good and the food was delicious with a big chest full of kids toys also outside is a suntrap. We checked into our room and was shown to our room also it's fob access so totally safe upstairs. Our family room 8 is very spacious with a large bed and a roll down sofa bed again large and bathroom with a large shower and all very clean and please please don't expect a wow factor in the bedrooms yes they need a modernisation and this is stated by the management on here . The view over the market place is lovely and the rooms are very quiet. Breakfast is continental and you can pay for hot food if you wish and breakfast is lovely. We would definitely stay again mainly because the pub has a great vibe and the staff are first class.

booked here on the 3/4th April and I was really disappointed. The room was was not that clean and when I lifted the lid on the toilet found the bottom of the toilet with someone’s DNA mess left there the tiles had mould all over the grout and just looked dirty. The bed was 2 singles pushed together with a sheet over the top not very comfortable and the floor was covered in stains all in all the room needed some TLC and a good cleaning. I would recommend that the management and cleaning staff check out the likes of the premier inn hotels to see how clean the rooms should be and a lot cheaper.Time to start putting some money back into refurbishing your rooms, cleaning the carpets. Looking at the other review the other guests had the same complaint for room 4. Would I stop again No

Always visit the White Lion in ambleside, after a lengthy trip from York we needed food as it was late, my husband had the Wild boar and chorizo burger which was great , I had the Classic burger, both meals we enjoyed, cheap and cheerful, lovely staff, would recommend to others, never disappointed with the Lion. Thanks.
