“Everything you need”
Reviewed 18 July 2011 for a stay in July 2011

We are a family of five and stayed for a week in July 2011 and found Gable Cottage to be an ideal base in the Lakes. The house was spotless with lots of room and everything you could want - even down to torches and a flask!

We didn't have a problem with the second bathroom being attached to the single room - we decided to keep one bathroom for the girls and one for the boys. We cooked several evening meals and found all the kitchen equipment we needed - the weather was good enough for us to eat outside too.

We used the washer but were glad that the weather was fine - washer/dryers take an exceptionally long time to dry (nearly four hours for five towels). Washing lines and pegs are supplied - in fact it's hard to think of anything we needed which wasn't provided.

Other reviewers have mentioned the lack of wifi connection - not something that was an issue for us. Mobile signal is poor throughout Keswick and the rest of the Lake District, so if you need to be electronically connected to the outside world I'd suggest going elsewhere on holiday!

All in all, we'd definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a family base in Keswick and we're already planning next year's break there.

Management Response
25 Apr 2011
Thank you for your review and we appreciate your comments. We are sorry that one of your party experienced a problem with the beds but we will undertake an immediate review following your comments.

There was a slight error with the towels but I understand that after you had contacted me they were delivered promptly.

With regard to the TV, this is due to be upgraded shortly but with the digital switchover in Cumbria occurring ahead of the rest of the UK and lack of Freeview signal due to the fells, we hope you appreciate that a freesat system was the most appropriate solution at the time.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
