“Mr & Mrs”
Reviewed 27 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

A glorious week of relaxation. Our 8 year old became free range and bloomed in such a war, welcoming and beautiful setting. Guinea pigs cuddles, chicken feeding and putting the ducks to bed became part of our daily routine. The beck and the swings were far more popular with my little girl than any screen could ever be. A shame to go home! My daughter now wants to be a farmer and I have a yearning for a dog as lovely as Mop. Though I think our relationship may have been based on me feeding her cold sausages. The Nest was our perfect idyllic retreat and we will return - I would recommend it whole heartedly but sssshhhhh! Please keep it a secret so not to spoil its quiet tranquility.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay in our "Nest" and found it comfortable and relaxing and still a good place to visit all the Lake District which is within easy reach of Bassenthwaite. Hope you may consider staying with us again in the future.

“Compact cottage”
Reviewed 24 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Lovely clean cottage, rather compact . We arrived during a hot spell of weather and the cottage was lovely and cool due to the thick walls. We had everything we needed in the accommodation. Mr and Mrs Trafford we welcoming and friendly. Really enjoyed helping getting the ducklings out in the morning on to the stream
There is a pub up the road but it's a little expensive. The nearest shop is on a caravan site down a lane. Lots of interesting places to visit within easy reach.

Thank you for your review. Pleased you enjoyed your stay in The Nest. Visitors have often likened it to the "Tardis" as they say it is much bigger inside than it looks on the photos. On cooler days there is plenty of heating available including a look alike wood burner stove. The local Inn is very popular and is in line pricewise with most pubs for food in the area, although there are plenty of choice of eating places in the area, including the Wheatsheaf Inn at nearby Embelton for perhaps a more reasonably priced meal and good portions. Our Indian Runner ducks are great attraction with their comical long necks and egg collecting in the morning can be great fun.

“cosy, comfortable country-themed cottage”
Reviewed 25 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

In a peaceful farm location. Fully equipped with all that two people would need. Everything had a country theme. Décor was fresh and clean. The cottage had ample heating even for colder days. Lovely location near a stream at the end of the farmyard complete with hens and ducks. Ideal for peace and quiet and for visiting this area of the Lakes
