Me, a friend and my dog, Betty Bubbles, booked a one night stay at Lane Head Farm over Bank Holiday weekend. I booked it on the basis of it being dog friendly, and boy, we were not disappointed. The location was fantastic, really central for Ullswater, Keswick and Windermere. From the second we arrived we were made to feel really welcome, shown to an amazing room, and 5 minutes later, a lovely welcome cup of tea made by Mandy in the guest lounge. Mandy explained that Betty was welcome everywhere (as long as she was on her lead), which was fantastic.

The room was beautiful, spotlessly clean, lovely four poster bed and a sofa. A lovely touch was the mat/bowl for Betty and a treat tin with a treat and extra poo bags and information sheets about dog friendly pubs and cafes in the area. The view from the room was lovely, we slept with the blind open and there was a beautiful sunrise!

After venturing out for a meal at the nearby White Horse, we had a bottle of wine in the guest lounge (extremely reasonably priced!). It was so so peaceful sitting there, very relaxing. This was followed by a lovely restful sleep. Next morning, we had were greeted in the dining room, lovely buffet and amazing cooked breakfast, I had been waiting for the fried bread, and wasn't disappointed. All the produce was fantastic, poached egg was perfect, and there was even a sausage for Betty.

Lane Head Farm is a gem, we will definitely be back. Thank you Mandy.

Great location, easy to find. Comfy rooms and delicious breakfast. They catered to vegetarians too which was nice. We would consider booking again. There was ample parking. Only criticism would be our room was above the front door which banged every time some one left or entered.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at this very welcoming, comfortable B&B. We are training for the 3 Peaks Challenge and wanted to test our legs on some of the tougher climbs the Lakes have to offer. We had been slightly concerned that not being in the centre of the lakes in say, Ambleside or Windermere, getting to the foot of the mountains might have been a slog from where we were. We needn't have worried as access to and from here was really easy. It's right on the A66 ( don't worry, you don't hear the road at all) and it's really quick to Keswick, Ambleside and Ullswater. Anyway part of the joy of the Lakes are the spectacular views as you drive through, even Hardknot Pass if you're brave enough to take that on!
The B&B itself is very comfortable and Mandy is a warm and welcoming host, bringing us tea in the cosy lounge, well stocked with board games and walking guides and maps. We'd asked for a room with a bath to soothe aching limbs at the end of a hard day on the fells and were glad we did. The bed was comfortable and the room well kitted out with everything you'd need. Breakfast was great and set us up well for the day's climb, in fact it kept us going all the way up and down again! We'd chosen this B&B as we were going to have brought our dog, in the end we didn't , but had we, I'm sure she'd have been well catered for. Next time!
We heartily recommend Lane Head Farm for its comfort and excellent value for money and we look forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: We asked for a room with a bath. I expect the West facing rooms have the best views down the Valley.
