The room was a good size and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good and made to order. We didn't eat in the restaurant or drink at the bar, but the outdoor seating looked nice. The location was great and an easy walk to Bowness-on-Windermere (£5.50 taxi back up the hill). The Tassimo machine in the room was a welcomed sight. The wifi worked well and the building itself was nicely decorated even if the floors are a bit wonky (think: walking uphill from the bed to the bathroom, and then immediately downhill inside the bathroom). The bathroom was clean and the towels were soft and fluffy.

The bed was terribly uncomfortable (really hard) and the shower was tiny and made even smaller by the temperature adjustment.

This was our trip away with our little one so we were quite apprehensive. From the minute we arrived until we left, the couldn't have done enough for us. They sourced a travel for for us saving is having to cart one with us and had a high chair waiting for us every morning at breakfast. Very pleasant staff who would also make our little one cuddle and smile. The room was nicely decorated and cleaned everyday with a lovely large bathroom. Located ideally for the centre of Windermere, it made our trip easy to organise. A thorough lovely trip and we'll definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed from Wednesday 21st of June to Saturday 24th. Our room was lovely and clean. The breakfast in the mornings was beautifully cooked with a nice choice. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was amazing, first class. The hotel has recently had a refurb with a new outside seating area which is a lovely place to sit with a drink whilst watching the world go by. I would highly recommend this lovely place to stay and eat.

We called Saturday afternoon for a lunch time snack and drink to be confronted - eventually with a clueless barman. We asked about food- the menus there! We ordered one drink before he decided to tell us we couldn't order food as 2 parties had to be served- what kind of establishment is this? It's a hotel!!! Then we decided to have a snack I asked for nuts sorry not got any and hardly any crisps this is a bank holiday!! If we had have known this we would not have had a drink or anything. Step up lamplighter

We stayed here on a Monday night as stopover after a very long journey.
We knew it was in the main area for convenience.
We were greeted OK apart from the bar staff not knowing anything about our booking as reception was closed - this was 5;30pm? Not a hotel at all....nether the less they showed us to our 'Premier Double' on the front of the hotel, but as a Monday evening we thought the noise from road would not be too bad!
We were wrong - yes an old building, but you still can try to insulate the old sash windows, but I afraid this was not the main issue in the end as when we made our way back on the evening at around 10:00pm we settled in to the room (floor boards by bottom of bed felt like you could fall through at any time), but at approx: 3am the guests next door returned to their room!! OMG it felt like they were in our room - the walls were so thin & they were SO LOUD!! I We couldn't believe how bad this was....then the icing on the cake - we could actual hear them snoring after about 1.5 hours of chatting!!!!!!!
In the morning mentioned this to the breakfast server as still no one on reception, but no real apology - I suppose they cannot help this, but the owners need to do something about the insulation or think where they are putting guests!!! There was nothing open in Windermere after 10:00pm only a pub across the road, so where had they come from at 3am!!! Or were they staff???
Never ever again do I want such a awful night. Thanks
