“Fantastic location, no car required for the whole of our stay”
Reviewed 30 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Although the weather was iffy on our weekend break, it did not bother us as this holiday cottage is smack bang in the middle of town. This being said the old stone walls are so thick you don't have any exterior or interior noise disturbance, fantastic. The cottage is nic nacky and a little twee, but at the same time homely and comfortable for the sme reasons. It is Very clean and had everything we needed. There are so many lovely eating places within 2-3 mins walk as well as local supermarkets if you prefer to eat in. You can walk in to Bowness in about 20-25 mins or get a taxi for £3.50 where there are a wider variety of shops and the lake cruises start from. Our dog was happy & content but would not use the small courtyard for a quick wee, as other reviewers we too had to do the round the block walk, however this was no problem. Be warned though, there is a note asking that you don't leave your dog alone in the house, not a problem if you've a very calm quiet dog like ours but a bit of a problem if you've got a yappy/barking dog. We will recommend to all friends and family and will most likely visit again in the future.

“Old Codgers Cottage”
Reviewed 11 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We booked by phone with Clive the owner. I thought it would be a 5 minute thing. Oh no, it was more like an hour later that I put the phone down with confirmation we had the cottage booked for our stay. This was not because everything was complicated, but beacuse Clive is such a genuine nice person and we talked about anything and everything. On arriving at the cottage everything was perfict. The location, amenities, but most importantly the cleanliness and the way the cottage is layed out. We would of loved to have brought the cottage to Yorkshire were we live for it to be our home. It is so cosy and snug. Our dog Charlie the springer was in his element too. We had to wake him each morning and he is not an old boy, but only 2 years old. The only problem we had with him was he would not use the little garden for a toilet, so we had to walk round the block first thing, before he would have his breakfast, to set him up for the day of long walks and swimming.

“Immaculate Cosy Cottage Central To All Amenities”
Reviewed 4 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

We booked a three night stay over Easter. There was me, my husband, our two children who are 2 and 5, and our dog.

The owner Clive was a pleasure to deal with. He promptly responded to my booking enquiry and text me to let me know when the cottage was available for us to enter. He was even in the area one evening and called upon us to check everything was okay.

Upon entering I was touched not only to find wine and Kendal mint cake, but also two Easter eggs for my children!

The cottage couldn't be any more central to Windermere. We were able to walk to all the shops, take outs and pubs. Plus Bowness on Windermere was a 20 minute walk away (longer on the way back as it is uphill). For two days we didn't even need our car.

The cottage is cosy and very clean. It has everything you require and even some extras such as board games, DVDs and books.

I can't really fault the property. We were sad to leave and would love to go back again.

If I had to be picky (and I don't really want to be as we had such a wonderful stay) I would say that it can be a pain not getting a parking spot in the same street as the cottage all the time. However, the parking permit provided does allow you to park in a number of streets nearby and we never had a problem finding a space. Lastly wifi would have been welcomed.

Book this cottage - you won't be disappointed.
