My partner and I had a lovely stay here. The room was clean and tidy as was the rest of the B&B. We had a delicious breakfast every morning with a wide choice of options accompanied by Caroline's delicious home made jam and marmalade. My gluten intolerance was well looked after and I didn't miss out on a thing at breakfast. We couldn't get enough of the incredible banana bread! Overall a fantastic find and we will definitely be returning!

Many thanks for the review and thanks for your kind thoughts.

Breakfast is a reoccurring theme and is a key part of Rockside. It is the most important meal of the day and we try to give it the justice it deserves. No one should miss out and we were happy to look after your dietary needs - it gives us an excuse to try out and adapt recipes.

With all the walking you did you needed a good start to the day - so pleased we were able to play a small part in getting you to the tops of our amazing fells

Be great to see you both again for some more walks

Regards

Caroline & Martin

Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights and we loved it! Caroline is so accommodating, from the moment we stepped in we felt welcome. She showed us around and to our room (number 5). It was a great room! The information book in there was also very useful and nicely written.

The B&B was in a central location and within walking distance of lots of pubs and restaurants.

The breakfast was perfect and there was a good choice. I would definitely recommend trying their marmalade, jam and vegetarian sausage! The homemade cake left in the entrance hall is also excellent, especially the chocolate brownie!!

I really think what Caroline and Martin have done here is a wonderful thing and good value for money. Stay here and you will not be disappointed!

Thank you both

Thanks Jodie for taking the time out to write a review and thank you for your kind comments.

The information booklet took such a long time to put together so it is pleasing to know that you found it so useful and helped you to plan and make the most of your stay.

Breakfast is all important at Rockside. It is always nice to eat something a little different and even the Vegetarian sausage which you enjoyed so much is made using our own special recipe

Love to see you both again

Regards

My Husband and I were looking for a relaxing short break in the lakes. We chose this Guest House because of the great reviews and we certainly were not disappointed!
From the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly by Caroline and shown to our room.(room8) Caroline had previously emailed us to confirm the booking and to mention that this particular room was of a quirky layout and that the wash basin was in the bedroom area and offered to swap rooms for us if we wanted. We didn't have a problem with that at all. The room was quirky, but it certainly wasn't a small room, it was delightful. It had a little couch, which was nice, save always sitting on the bed and a mini fridge which was really handy. Plenty drawer and hanging space for clothes etc. Comfy bed.Extra pillows if needed. Good, thermostat controlled radiator for those colder evenings.
Martin did a great job with the breakfasts, they were delicious and there was a varied choice from full English to blueberry pancakes. All attended to by Caroline and nothing was too much trouble.
There was no noise heard from other guests, i e. banging doors late at night or noise form TV's etc. Guess this is because the building is old and the walls are thick. The building is old but the décor certainly isn't. It's modern and up to date and extremely clean throughout. There was a great book in our room with lots of information of where to walk, shop, eat, trips etc. Also on the second landing, more information and books and DVD's if you fancied a night in.
Although the main road is busy during the day, it didn't matter as we were out anyway and at night it is much quieter.
It's just a short walk to Windermere town centre were there are plenty of cuisines to choose from when you want to eat. There is also a Co-op and a Sainsburys which are handy. It's quite a walk down to Bowness but if your legs fail you, you can catch number 599 bus just 5 mins walk around the corner from the Guesthouse at the bus and train station.
Caroline and Martin were knowledgeable about the area and hikes, walks etc as we heard them passing on advice to their guests if they asked.
A nice touch was the delicious homemade cakes left by the guest book in the afternoon and you could help yourself. Also, the homemade award winning marmalade was yum and so was the jam.(Had to bring some home)!
A lovely, comfortable intimate size guesthouse that felt like home. A wonderful stay for us and would definitely recommend. Thank you Caroline and Martin. We really had a lovely time and we will definitely return when we are next up that way.

Room Tip: I think rooms 9 and 10 are slightly bigger though room 8 was ample size

What a lovely place to stay, a very well kept B&B with lovely food. A great choice of breakfast and lovely home made cakes or biscuits left out for you to enjoy when you got back after a day of adventure.
Not to mention the award winning home made marmalade!
Caroline & Martin are very friendly and welcoming.
We even found some cake left for our journey home on our motorcycle saddle, as they thought they had missed us leaving.
We had actually called the RAC as we'd had problems. They then invited us back in and gave us a cuppa and a room key (although the room had already been made up) so we could use the loo.
Would highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: We saw three rooms that were all very nice Lovely comfy beds.

Thanks for the review.
It was a pleasure to meet you both and hear your stories of the wedding and your new life on the water and that you eventually made it back home safely after a unplanned extended visit.

Wishing you both many more happy years together.

We had a very pleasant stay at Rockside. The owners were very friendly and every morning we were greeted by cheerful Caroline who served us a wonderful breakfast (vegetarian). Our room was very comfortable and the standard of cleanliness was perfect as was the rest of the guesthouse. A very sweet and pleasant touch was the plate of homemade cakes in the hallway! The guesthouse is very conveniently situated for Windermere town and because of the number of rooms, Rockside has a very intimate and personal atmosphere. For a quiet evening in, Rockside has a good range of DVDs and books. We really enjoyed our stay, had lovely walks and would highly recommend this charming guesthouse.

Room Tip: Rooms on the main street may have some noise from traffic (if windows are open).
