My girlfriend and I go regularly to Mandarin now and in the many times we have been we have never once been disappointed, busy or quiet it’s always fabulous. We always recommend it and it is, by far, the best Chinese around. The duck is amazing and the perfect balance between crispy and succulent. The limoncello twist with the lemon chicken makes it so refreshing. The satay is another favourite with the great peanut flavour and the chilli oil in there takes it to another level. The food is testament to why it has been around for so many years.

A family of 11 visiting Blackpool to see the illuminations at half term couldn’t visit Blackpool without visiting The Mandarin, we have been eating there as long as I can remember. A lovely lady was singing that night and her music just made the evening. Staff are very friendly and efficient the meals very tasty and huge portions. If you like Cantonese then you must visit.

We arrived for a booking of ten and the table was perfectly set for a birthday

We were served by Marian who we have known from another restaurant and he always gives the best service

He made me feel very at home and the rest of my family loved it

The best waiter in Blackpool

Another very oriental gentleman helped serve as well although we didn't get his name

Thank you Mandarin

Thanks for your review Sophie, thanks for choosing the Mandarin to celebrate your Birthday dinner, we're pleased to hear you had a great night. We'll pass on your comments to Marian and Andy, who I think was the other waiter who looked after you that evening.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family back again soon :-)

We visited as a pre-booked family party of 7 and found the table ready and waiting for us. The drinks orders were taken and delivered quickly. The staff were attentive, and quickly came to take the food order. The food was delicious and disappeared quickly - we'll certainly be going back soon. In comparison with a number of other restaurants in town, the prices are slightly more expensive, but the atmosphere of a smaller establishment and higher quality food are worth it.

My friends have been coming to this restaurant for over 12 years and on our last visit we spent £120 but unfortunately the manageress treated us very badly and wanted us out as quickly as possible so she could get more customers in (which is unfortunately is not the 1st time this has happened). We have been booking here online for a few years at least 2 nights per weekend we stay and spending over £100 each visit. We asked for our usual Irish and Calpso coffees only to be told we couldn't get them and then after we complained we did get them. We then received various phone calls from the manageress to contact her the next day and then from the owner Michael Chan to say there had been a misunderstanding and the manageress told him she hadn't said we couldn't have coffees which meant we had basically lied so we were furious - we were then offered free coffees on our next visit (knowing we were such good customers) but we will never be back after receiving such bad service and been classified as liars to back up the manageress. PS we confided in a very nice member of staff who will remain nameless to protect his job who told us he sypathised with us and also agreed the staff were treated badly by her- this is only our experience but judge for yourselves but as Mr Whan said we were valued customers so to treat us so badly was unacceptable - just don't go there if you want to spend time with your friend and relax as u will be pressured to leave no matter how much you spend

Hi Jim,
Firstly thanks for returning to visit us each year over the past 10 years or so, as you mention you are great regular customers and I think it's fair to say Pauline (the owner since 2002) has always, in the past, had a good and fun relationship with you.
Rather than repeat our Facebook reply to your friend Stevie, I'll copy and paste as it covers all your points.
We do have regular staff meetings and this week one of the team brought up this review; after discussing it with the team I can assure you and anyone else reading this that none of our staff feel they are "treated badly" as you imply.
We urge people reading this to come and judge for themselves, we're confident you won't be disappointed :-)

Please see our Facebook response to your friend below...
"Hi Stevie, it’s such a shame to leave a 10 year relationship on such a sour note. It’s honestly the biggest misunderstanding ever!!!! I spoke to Pauline and she’s said she asked you to bear with us for desserts and coffee because we were so busy not that you couldn’t have them! She knew you are going to order Irish coffee because you guys have it every time and she just wanted to let you know it would take a while because we were 2 staff down on Friday due to illness. She’d also rearranged the later bookings to leave your table free so you could take your time She came back to take the order but had also told the other staff to make sure they took your order if she didn’t get a chance because you’re regulars. We never once asked you to hurry up, and if we didn't want you to have desert, why would we take the order.
Pauline’s tried to call you a couple of times to explain as she doesn’t want a misunderstanding to finish a relationship. This is honestly the biggest misunderstanding ever!!!
Please don’t let this stop you coming back to see us next year, we do look forward to the banter with you guys and to see how you got on with the horses We'll get you your Irish coffees on us next time you're in, it really was a complete misunderstanding."
