“Definitely NOT as advertised!”

The Positives... the location, the building and security.
The Negatives...everything else! Including no heating only hot water!!
We were three middle aged ladies going to the Echo Arena. We arrived at 4pm (giving plenty of time for cleaning) found the apartment and gained access. As we entered the apartment we were met with a musty smell, we later found out that it came from the on-suite shower room which I have enclosed photos of. You will see why we only had strip washes and didn't use the showers or musty smelling towels during our stay. (Glad we had the sense to take hand towels.) The furniture in the apartment is nothing like the listings...the blinds were broken and mouldy. In the master bedroom the springs had gone in the mattress, window vents broken, the only wardrobe housed the vac and lots of unwanted items as did the cupboard housing the broken boiler. The kitchen was filthy and it states that you will have to pay £20 for cleaning if leave it dirty...well you wouldn't use it....only for heat that is, as the heating is broken as I mentioned. Contacted during our stay regarding the lack of heating, having gone straight to voicemail each time I left two voicemails asking to be contacted....I am still waiting! To add insult to injury it took several attempts to get back the bond of £150 returned to my bank account. Thanks to Trip Advisor Customer services for sorting it with the owner. My advise would be to choose another apartment if you are visiting Liverpool.

“Nice apartment, convenient location”

Stayed for three nights, our party consisted of myself, husband and father-in-law (sprightly 92 year old). Well located for main attractions, Mersey ferry trip, Liverpool museum, Beatles story, terminus for open top buses, Tate Modern etc. We tended to take taxis to and fro as too far for father in law to walk each time, although only about a mile so fine for younger people.
Short taxi ride to theatres and we enjoyed a meal and show on our first evening which started our holiday off well. Apartment itself was modern, safe and comfortable - only a few little niggles as you can see from previous posts - blinds instead of curtains that did not block out light, main bedroom en suite no handle on shower door so difficult to get open for short people! otherwise well equipped and we enjoyed our visit, this was much nicer than staying in a hotel. We visited the yacht club just round the corner for an evening meal and it was good value for money. Don't miss a visit to the Cavern Club (you can hop on hop off if you buy a sightseeing bus ticket) which is fun and has local musicians playing live.

“Nice appartment but”

We stayed at this apartment from the 10th to the 17th July and all in all we had a fairly nice stay.

However we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the place. When we arrived we found that the main bathroom toilet had not been cleaned and was quite soiled. The en-suite bathroom was suffering from mold and it looked like someone had tried to rub it off with sand paper as there was dust everywhere. The kitchen ceiling extractor was covered in gunge. The carpets were not very clean and we found receipts from 2014 under one of the beds.

We mentioned to the landlord via SMS about the overall cleanliness but it seemed to be he couldn't really be bothered or was too busy - his reply "John said it was fine!".

Other niggles - the shower door in the en-suite bathroom was broken, the hand towel rail was hanging off and tiles were broken a bit. The kitchen hob extractor fan was not working... oh and the burglar alarm went off.. but not sure what happened there. The dining table was wobbly and one dining chair was broken. Headboards on the beds were a bit wobbly and tended to hit the wall when moving about. The vertical blinds were in bad condition in most rooms - and I really don't know what goes through a person's mind to install these into a bedroom as they block no light at all. Mind you we at least got up early each day to meet up and see sights ;-)

Anyone who stays here in future should bring a decent kitchen knife because we couldn't find one.

Living room sofas were excellent though

Guys - a real shame. It is a nice place but considering the price you charge you could just try and put a wee bit more effort into keeping it a bit cleaner and in ship shape.

“Ms”
Reviewed 13 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

This review is based on the following guest particulars:
- no car
- 2 young children

The apartment itself is pretty nice - good condition, nice building, nice area.

However, we faced the following challenges:
- The bedrooms have no curtains. They do have blinds but the blinds are meant for privacy not to block light. This meant that the kids had trouble falling asleep in the evening as it was too light and were up between 4am and 5am as the sun was up as well.
- Even though we checked how far the apartment is from the city center, we underestimated the distance. We ended up using taxis most of the time as walking with the kids wasn't feasible (it was too far to walk to the centre)
- After our booking we received no information on the property - how to get keys, etc. I sent emails without reply, I called multiple times without hearing back. I thought we were scammed but kept trying. In the end I got in touch and was promised to be sent an info pack. I had to follow up and request it again. I had no information on when the deposit would be returned either and had to request this as well.

I think the place is nice but is better suited for people without children or with older children.

Given the text of your review I think 3 stars is a little harsh. Fair enought if you got a taxi with young children but for most people we are as close to the attractions as you can reasonably be and still be in a self contained apartment in the docks. The distance from the apartment to the Albert Dock (main tourist area) is about one mile along the river front so without young children perhaps a 10-15 minute walk. Otherwise the only point I think needs addressing are your comments re the information provided. You booked and paid online via the holiday lettings website and so got all the standard confirmation emails from them automatically. I cannot undersatnd why you would worry that you had been scammed. A few days before your stay we sent a detailed PDF booklet containing full check in instructions as well as all the information you would need about the apartment. Home Away Guest Manager feature also sent you various automated messages in the days leading up to your stay including gate codes, welcome message, etc and then a reminder to check out, invite to leave a review etc. We said the damage deposit would be returned within 14 days but we would try for 7 days. It was actually returned on the 7th day.

“A nice flat in a good location”
Reviewed 14 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We stayed at the apartment in Quebec Quay for three nights. The apartment was easy to find and is in a very nice quiet and safe location with its own parking space and is a very pleasant 10 - 15 minute walk along the Mersey from all the main attractions
The apartment is spacious with one en suite bedroom and one much smaller twin room. The flat was very clean but unfortunately there had been a leak in the en suite and the wall was badly stained.
The main inconvenience for us was that the boiler constantly had to be rebooted. Not too much of a problem for us as the weather was not cold but it would not have been any fun in the winter. We felt that the boiler (which is huge) definitely needs attention as it is not normal for a boiler to cut out so often. Also the extractor fans in the bathrooms were not working and the floors in the en suite and the bathroom became very slippery with the condensation from the shower. There were no shower mats provided so we had to use towels to stand on - not the best. The kitchen is large but could do with some light bulbs being replaced and also a few more sharp knives would be helpful as there was only one in the drawer which made cooking a bit of a challenge. Also there was no Wifi available which was a bit of an inconvenience and quite surprising in 2015.
All of this said we did had a very pleasant stay in this comfortable conveniently located apartment.
