We stayed in room 221.
Let’s start with the positives.
Nora checked us in and she was so warm and friendly but professional at the same time. Great start. We arrived early so thought we’d check our bags in and head out. Davy checked in our bags and was kind enough to give us a vast amount of information. Where to go, what to see. He had a great knowledge of his city and was able to answer any of our questions and then tailored the map to suit our needs. After spending the morning in the city we came back to get room keys and see our room. Getting out of the lift and seeing the corridor leading to our room I was genuinely impressed at how grand and beautifully restored it was. We opened our room door. I loved it, right up my street. The way it had been restored with its fabulous brick roof and the ‘corroded’ looking pipes mixed so well with the spacious and almost utilitarian furniture. For me, it’s spot on. The bathroom is another spacious area, the shower is huge, the bath is a massive bonus. I love a soak in a bath after a day of walking. I can’t comment on the rest of the hotel yet but, I have high hopes. Plus it’s lovely and clean. Another tick ✔️ from me.
Negatives. A tiny bit of veneer is coming of the bedside table. The window (outside) could be a little cleaner. Maybe a soft close toilet seat? But that’s a personal preference. But let me finish by saying these issues are minuscule and not really any sort of problem as far as I’m concerned.
