Owner description: ZSL London Zoo is packed full of wonder and amazement, with over 650 species of animals to meet and thousands more surprising and fascinating facts just waiting to be discovered. Find yourself face-to-face with our Asiatic lions and our friendly giraffes whilst they enjoy a spot of lunch. Wander through our Madagascan shrub forest and see how many of our ring-tailed lemurs you can spot before heading down to B.U.G.S to quiz our insect experts on the importance of insects to our ecosystem. Then, if you're feeling brave, you can get up close and personal and take a Spider Selfie with our resident arachnids in Europe’s only walk-through spider experience. Not to mention firm favourites Gorilla Kingdom, Penguin Beach and Tiger Territory. This is a place where fun days help us fund raise. Where your visit will help support our conservation work in over 50 countries around the world. Where really great days out can make a really positive difference to the wildlife we work to protect.

Good sized zoo, took the whole day to see most animals and to explore the park fully. Shop prices are what you can expect, more expensive inside the park than outside. Didn’t feel like we were in London once inside, only downside is hard-ish to get public transport there from Euston station.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your visit to ZSL London Zoo.

We apologise that you didn’t see has many animals as you hoped during your visit. The larger animals you mention such as Elephants, we no longer house at ZSL London. Due to the size of the animal they were relocated to our sister zoo in Dunstable, ZSL Whipsnade back in 2001 where they have 30 acres of paddock to explore.

We pride ourselves as a leading authority in animal husbandry not only in the UK, but around the world, and we hope you can visit us again in the near future to see what ZSL has to offer. Alternatively, why not visit ZSL Whipsnade Zoo to discover our herd of Asian elephants, rhino’s and brown bears.

Admittedly we went on an extremely wet day, which meant that all the animals were indoors, which did little to enhance our experience.
It had been 41 years since my last visit, and I would not mind waiting another 41 years before I go back.
Simply, the place is over-priced, extremely tired in places, particularly the Aquarium which needs a complete revamp.
Made worse by the miserable cold food in the restaurant.
Given the 'footfall' of visitors, if this is the best ZSL can offer, it needs to take a good hard look at itself.

Thank you for your review.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent visit to ZSL London Zoo.

We apologise that you didn’t see all the animals that you hoped to during your visit. Our animals are free to move around their indoor and outdoor viewing areas freely so this may mean that at times they are harder to spot. We encourage our visitors to come back throughout the day to see any animals they may have missed.

Here at ZSL London Zoo we have many unique listed buildings, including our famous Aquarium which dates back to the 1850’s. Due to this there are limitations on the work we can do to adapt the older exhibits. However, we have worked hard on creating a variety of newer, immersive areas.

We hope that you decide to come back and visit us again soon and experience what ZSL has to offer.

I LOVE going to zoos in other countries and the London zoo was totally worth it. If you buy tickets online ahead for time you save something like 10%, which is awesome!!!

It’s quite large, has a cool monkey part where you are inside with the monkeys. The lion setup is intricate and detailed and large. They have the same kind of walk in habitat for the Lemurs too! There are Pygmy hippos and the penguin habitat is the best I’ve ever seen. I even got a video of one just swimming and jumping all over the place. The wild dog habitat is very large and you can get very close with some low windows, very cool.

When we went there were hundreds of schools kids and it was still fun! There’s an aquarium, tigers, bats, reptiles... fun for the whole family. We didn’t eat there, but there’s food options too for sure.

I’m so happy we went!

On a cold yet partially sunny day, we ventured to the Zoo. The small unassuming entrance should not dismay you. The greeters are cheerful and helpful. Once inside we had a limited amount of time so we decided to do the "greatest hits". Starting with the African area, we saw the Pygmy hippos, giraffe, zebra, wild dogs.
Soon I realized that while this zoo does not have as large a collection of animals compared to other big metropolitan zoos, each enclosure is extensive and spacious. You can walk into the climate controlled enclosures of each animal and that's what makes this a special zoo. The tigers were strolling around in and out of their enclosure so we could run around to see them from different angles.
The best enclosure was the Asiatic Lions of Gir. They have recreated a Gujarati Fort in India complete with small temple shrines and store fronts. Quite wonderful!
The animals don't look restless and that's incredible.
The zoo store is well laid out.
I would say that unless it was pouring rain, you could still have a lovely day at the zoo because of the many warm interior viewing areas.
