Stayed in one of the fabulous cottages, very roomy, well appointed, spotlessly clean, kitchen well designed, every conceivable thing provided. Manager and staff, very welcoming, polite, knowledgeable, nothing too much trouble. We ate 1 night in the restaurant, food delicious. Easy access into Whitby town good bus service. Would definitely recommend.

Another wonderful stay. This is our favourite hotel when visiting the Yorkshire Coast. We have stayed at Raithwaite many times now and it never disappoints. We are looking forward to our next visit already.

We enjoyed being close to Whitby and Sandsend but without the noise of seagulls or tourists! We had a pleasant walk to Sandsend and enjoyed the spa at the hotel. Breakfast has everything you could wish for and the rooms have good supply of quality biscuits, tea etc. Bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean with luxurious toiletries and enormous fluffy white towels. We shall return!

Spent two nights in this hotel to celebrate my milestone birthday, we were looking forward to a luxury stay and fine dining experience. Unfortunately this hotel failed to deliver on either of those expectations. However, on a positive note the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room in the Keep was clean and tidy but fell very short of the luxury we were expecting. This is not a cheap hotel and to be honest the "executive" standard of the hotel room was not much better than a travel lodge. The first night we dined in the Hunters restaurant. This was terrible, the food was so salty it was practically inedible. Next morning, we were looking forward to a full English breakfast, but found this to be mediocre at best, with self service buffet style precooked food kept lukewarm in metal drums and cold plates. The only thing cooked to order were eggs but even these were served on cold plates. The second evening (my birthday night) we ate in the Brasserie, after the previous evening we were apprehensive and yet again this hotel failed to deliver with tasteless but this time under seasoned food, small portions and no condiments on the table. The waiter told us the chef doesn't like people to put salt or pepper on the food as it spoils it! We didn't use the spa facilities so am unable to comment on them. Overall we found this hotel to be over priced, over rated and left us very very disappointed.

I recommend everyone that wants to spend brilliant relaxing time with their partner/family because it is very relaxed and quiet there, wonderful walks near beach within 10 minutes walking distance. Very clean area and the staff is just amazing. Spa is recommended! Very clean and it's all great :)
