“Great location and views”
Reviewed 5 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

The cottage is a short distance from Whitby and is situated on a hill so you can see the abbey. There is equipment for young children to play on and sheep viewed from your window. The track to get to the cottage has quite a few pot holes so be careful when driving to and from there.
Although the oven was not working, the owner met us at the cottage to apologise and it was unfortunate he was unable to get the cooker fixed during our stay. However, everything else in the property was in good order (except we could not get the DVD player working?),
The cottage was very clean and the heating system brilliant, the shower is not that powerful though!
I would return to this cottage.

Thank you for your review, it was good to hear you enjoyed your stay. I would like to apologize again for a few problems encountered during your stay.
The built in oven was only 18months old and still under Curry's cover. The problem was reported as soon as the fault was reported but sadly the Engineer took a few days to come out and the part required didn't arrive during your stay ( even after lots of phone calls on my part ). We share a long private drive with a few other properties which once formed a Hill Farm, the access road is surfaced with tarmac and any defects repaired at regular intervals but some potholes have formed over the past summer. Resurfacing has been arranged and we are awaiting the contractor doing this work.
It is good to hear you may return some time in the future.
Thanks once again for your booking. Regards Paul

“Amazing venue”

The cottage was perfect for us and our daughter. It is a sign of a good host when the venue has everything you'll ever need. The kitchen was well equipt and was perfect for our needs. The cottage was well heated and cosy too. The surroundings were idiotic and the farm land provided entertainment for our daughter she we were back at base.
We would and have already recommended it to our friends and would return again.

Many thanks for your kind review, so good to hear you enjoyed a great stay. I think maybe you mixed up a word when you said the surroundings were idiotic but I understand what you mean we are certainly surrounded by some wonderful scenery.
I hope you come and enjoy another stay soon. Regards Paul

“FAB COTTAGE, IDEAL LOCATION”
Reviewed 28 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Just returned from a week at this cottage, the location is very peaceful. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Ideal placement for touring the local seaside towns and villages. Will consider this again for a break later in the year.

Great to hear you had a good week and enjoyed the cottage and local area so much.
We are pleased you found Grosmont Cottage so well situated for enjoying the peaceful surroundings of stunning Eskdale but only 1 mile from Whitby.
I have just received your booking for late September. Many thanks from Paul and Dianne.

“Pleasant cottage with lovely views”
Reviewed 3 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

The cottage is compact, but very well equipped. On the plus side the cottage was clean, and it is in a lovely setting, being in a courtyard with other holiday cottages, and having lovely views all around. As another reviewer commented the shower does lack power. If i could suggest an improvment it would be to install a powerful aerial as we could only receive BBC 1 & 2, and whilst we are not TV addcits, having greater choice would be nice. Also WIFI-the other cottages had it.The cottage is in an ideal position to visit both the moors and coast.

Thank you for your cottage review. It was good to hear you thought the cottage was well equipped and you enjoyed the lovely position in Eskdale.

In responce to your comments. Most cottages have either a bath or a shower, we advertise a shower over a bath which is not a power shower because of the mess a power shower would make when not in a substantial shower cubicle.
You could only watch BBC1 and BBC2. During various stays at our cottage I haven't had any problem receiving all the main TV stations and possibly the TV needed tuning, guests do tend to play with the channels.
You comment that the lack of Wi-Fi was a downside and the other cottages had it. Why then choose a cottage which doesn't have Wi-Fi? You made your booking through a large Agency group who advertise many cottages in and around Whitby both with and without Wi-Fi. If you wanted Wi-Fi you should have booked a cottage stating they had Wi-Fi. Our family like to leave the stress of computers and games machines when on holiday which is an individuals personal choice so we don't advertise Wi-Fi.
I hope the lack of the above facilities didn't spoil your holiday too much. Can I also suggest to you that booking a cottage direct with the cottage owner advertising on the web through Holidaylettings for future holidays would save you money ( Agencies such as the one you used add on 25% to our own rental prices for their advertising and costs ) and also you can check what facilities are provided directly with the owner before booking.

Thank you once again for your review and for staying at Grosmont Cottage. Best Wishes Paul & Dianne
