We’re looking forward to our visit after missing out on previous visits to Whitby. The audio guide was too short and sweet on the main items without having to delve deeper, no directions from location to location. There were no plans showing the presumed layout of the site as much of it is featureless so one doesn’t get any idea of scale. After heavy rain some of the main paths were sodden and difficult to cross. All in all what was a magnificent site could have been better presented.

The Abbey it's self is now running out of things to see and seems over priced.
It's a nice walk up the 100 steps to the Abbey but wouldn't go in again

Absolutely love this place come rain or shine, unfortunately when I have been it's been raining or misty.
Such a magical place and very haunting as you approach in the mist, a must for anyone who appreciates historical places.

We visited Whitby Abbey last year .... it was bleak and windswept .. but beautiful and majestic ...... then the sun came out and it was like a different place ..... well worth a visit ... and in the town the fish & chips were lovely

Great way to spend a few hours with a family or alone. Reception offer a device that you can hear about the history of the Abbey. In-expensive entry fee (free to members).
