Owner description: The Ghostwalk was established before 1973 and was an original creation believed to be the first in the world. We promise a unique opportunity to discover the hidden magic of our ancient City through the real art of storytelling. Tales are drawn from the immense history of York and are told against a backdrop of haunting beauty. We walk in the very footsteps of those who have passed before.

Wandered around York listening to tales from York’s gory past. Yes it wasn’t particularly scary and I didn’t see any ghosts, but our guide (Pat) was funny and charismatic and he coped well with the large group of people that turned up at 8pm. Would recommend!

We had a fantastic time on this walk. Pat, our guide, was amazing. He really knew his history but was also entertaining too, we got the serious elements but mixed in with humour which really made the evening. Our walk lasted approx 70mins & Pat offered to stay at the end to answer any questions. Would definitely recommend this walk.

We did this ghost walk at the weekend with our 9 year old son and had a fabulous time, even though we set out in blizzard conditions! The popularity of this tour speaks for itself as 20+ people turned up on a freezing cold evening, ready to explore the ghost stories of York.

The guy who runs the tour is so entertaining and really connects with his audience, taking time to speak to you individually and find out where you are from, etc. It was like a night out with a friend you haven't met yet.

The ghost tales are pitched at just the right level - not too scary for the kids but menacing enough that the adults don't find it cheesy. He has an obvious passion for his work and the time passed so quickly even though we were out and about for an hour and a quarter.

This is an excellent value-for-money, not-to-be-missed attraction suitable for all ages.

Well, I have to say it was a rainy cold night ab we did consider giving it a miss but delighted we went along. A spooky and fun tour full of interesting facts and theatre. This claims to be the oldest ghost tour in Britain & York is said to have more hauntings than anywhere else in Britain. Even if you are a non believer go for the fun and historical stories.
Our group was about 25 people. I have seen complaints about group size but for £5 I thought it was good value and didn’t have to strain to hear any of the stories. You don’t book, just turn up. Rug up if it’s cold.
Our guide (Chris) was animated, knowledgeable, and humorous. The walk was easy and about 1.5 hours long. A great way to round off a day.
